Eine der wenigen Operninszenierungen, die man als komplett entstaubt und trotzdem gelungen bezeichnen kann. Bei den scheinbar abwegigen Bildern hat dennoch alles Hand und Fuß. Tolle Produktion.

Von dem Konzert im Jahr 2022 scheint es keine DVD oder BR zu geben, oder? Ich habe die DVD mit dem Konzert, das 1989 stattfand - leider ist die Bildqualität grottenschlecht .

Looks like another Eurotrash production....Yuck - I pity the poor singers...

When directors have an idea that they impose on a work, nothing good ever comes of it. This production is further proof that the theater's dramaturgy department should pay more attention so that another new production doesn't quickly disappear into oblivion because it simply isn't good. Even before the opera begins, we are told by a “witch” that she is many things at once, including an investment banker, and that it is about oil deposits off the Scottish coast. As a result, the witches twirl around on tablets and are effectively the capitalist supermother for what follows. Stupid idea, because it doesn't work. And you quickly notice this in the production. I was at yesterday's performance, which dragged on for 3 hours and 20 minutes because there were constant breaks, the very boring-looking stage set rattled around and once even got stuck, which made the stagehands audible up to the 2nd tier because they were shouting things at each other. In the middle of the singing, of course. Yes, Ms. Moore announced herself indisposed, but you couldn't attribute that buzzing vibrato to her cold, she just has it. Moreover, she is clearly not suited for the tricky merits of Verdi singing. And so the highlight of the evening was actually the short aria of Macduff. The audience applauded to everything, so a lot of them don´t seem to know about good singing. And why the dreadful ballet music was not cut, as is usually the case, is a mystery to me. It doesn't contribute to the plot at all and the video images the director came up with, including the artificial insemination of the lady, are embarrassing. For pop culture fans: the witches look like Taissa Farmiga in American Horror Story. Yawn.
