Pretty cool. I don't live in an area where there's much Military Re-Enactment in thr US. There are Mountainman groups that do events. I'm too far away to participate in Civil War Re-Enacting, which is one of the main events in the US. It's not a cheap hobby, as I'm sure you know. Getting a hold of original equipment is very expensive, and the reproduction goods are only slightly less. I do admire that you and your fellow Re-Enactors are keeping History alive for future generations. Thanks for sharing your passion and collection with us.

The people who reproduce the replica helmets never seem to get the positioning of the vents and liner holes right? The Chinese are the worst of all, with them far too close together, and now some replicas have the vent too far away!

I have one that the manufacturing markings state "HS 405" do you by chance know who manufactured it/ what it means?

The Grabersuche site seems to have been updated - which is very common - in the years since you posted this useful video. The third soldier from the Flak unit is now shown as being killed in the French locality of Chery-Chartreuve, which is actually northeast of Paris. His card would still be of great historical value, as he was killed after the great Allied breakout at Falaise in early August.

Wouldn't almost all of the paint be worn off after a few weeks in the field anyway? I'm pretty sure this is the case at least for the aluminum cups.

The angle at the front of the brim, right before it goes up to the brim is WAY too sharp and EVERYONE knows this. Original M42 shells are not like that from any of the 5 factories that made them. The IMA M42s are atrocious for that and not a good repro, way too heavy and made out of Ordinance steel and not manganese silicon steel, also too thick of steel. ATF has about the only correctly shaped M42, BUT they are marked size 66 and they aren't even close to size 66, they are smaller. And Finally.. The only Sizes of Repros that IMA has are the size 68 and size 70 shells, that's unacceptable unless you want to look like Dark Helmet from the movie Space Balls.

Weird comments on this page. These helmets were both military supplied and private purchase by civilians, used in a wide range of non direct combat and civil service roles within Germany, same as the M34 and beaded Luftschutz variants. The name Luftschutz literally translates to air defence or air protection, German translations are not literal. This is not a bad repro, but it’s interesting it was made as a repro at all.. think they appeared about 15 years ago from 1 maker who also made French repros and some others. Can’t remember if this is a Chinese or Indian made repro, suspect it’s Indian with their tell tale bulky poor looking liners The front visor is slightly to large on this, otherwise it’s a good addition as a budget collection filler. The best repro’s on the market currently are the size 64cm M42 helmets from China, the shell’s are virtually identical to an original with a fair nice repro M31 liner.
