As a child I remember vividly, standing on the platform at York station many times. As the Deltic departed I would stand at the point where it took full power. Nothing quite like it. Happy memories.

What model MAN cabover engine (COE) tractors are these? At 14:33, the leading MAN tractor sounds like it has a V8 diesel in it. They are impressive. I see mostly cabover engine tractors in Europe, yet very little of the conventional long hood design with cab behind engine there. We in the US and Canada, have just the opposite, many conventional long hood truck designs but almost no COE design tractors. In fact, in the new millennium, I don't even see any major truck makes in COE design. This is an excellent video, thank you for this great job!

According to the badging it's a D38 rated at 580hp but I'm happy to be corrected by the heavy haulage fans out there. All the specs suggest it's 6 cylinder displacing 15.2 litres. Allelys hold the record for the biggest load ever transported on Britain's roads at over 320 feet in length and 640 tonnes in weight back in 2013. It's pretty impractical to use anything other than a cabover in Europe and the UK due to the maximum length limit. Weight wise the everyday limit in the UK is 44 metric tonnes on six axles which is heavier than many of the oversize 'heavy' loads shown on the US based channels.
Absolutely incredible brilliant show excellent work the trucks are incredible beautiful wagons excellent haulage wagons amazing show ❤😊

Correct. I believe only one loco had two operational engines and I have been told that usually the second engine only cuts in at 23 m.p.h. There is a video online of 'Alycidon' using both engines exiting Sharpthorne tunnel on the Bluebell Railway. From about 13:40 on this video:- kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJKtaKGgaNJorLM

THE NIGHTMARE OF REGIMENTED SR SET FORMATIONS !!! "The filming of model railways is trickier than it looks " ! Agreed, and you're doing pretty well. Even trickier I would add is getting the Southerns Regimented coaching SETS correct. The Exmouth - Cleethorpes train being a case in point. All my pics of that train show it to have been ER stock for the simple reason only one set was necessary for this SO service. So no balancing stock requirement for the SR to provide ! Further the use of the (Hornby) SR Maunsell Second Open (Diagram 2005) would have been unusual in any REGULAR SERVICE inter-regional train ! Diagram 2005 coaches. Nos 1312-1361, 50 vehicles built Eastleigh 3/33 to 8/33. (operation 1954-64). 4 were allocated to "West of Axminster" Type 2W 2-car local Sets. SETS Nos 104, 105, 109 & 110. 20 were rebuilt in 1958/9 into Pull/Push Sets 600-619. (Altered to Diagram 2023) Also available from Hornby. 4 more were allocated in West of England mainline Sets: SET 269 11 Car (1346), SET 370 2 Car (1355), SET 430 10-Car (1344/1345). 10 more were summer only Designated as (R)SO Restaurant 2nd Open, for SW Division mainline services, because they had tables. These ran paired with catering vehicles of various types (including the Hornby KDF Kitchen Dining First), and these pairs were inserted or removed from mainline sets on a daily basis as required. From 1957 withdrawal of these vehicles & many of the SR designed catering vehicles began. All were withdrawn by 1962. NOTE: Stock details extracted from BR(SR) Carriage Working Notice Appendices (CWNA) A twice yearly BR internal document Happy modelling !😝

By the way - I disagree with you on one point only - the Exmouth Cleethorpes train did run with a set of Maunsells in the alternate direction to a corresponding ER set each week - Leaving Cleethorpes at 7:00 and Exmouth at a more leisurely 10:42 crossing at Bath Green Park between 2:10 and 2:15 p.m.. . The Eastern Region had been responsible for both sets in 1960 but in 1961 and 1962 the coach working was shared between the ER and SR.. The sets were used occasionally for excursions during the week apparently. There are lots of shots published of the Maunsell set operating on the trains. There are two very good articles on the train with accompanying photos in the Spring and Summer editions of the Somerset and Dorset Railway trust magazine "The Pines Express".

Alleleys never fail to impress with the awesome kit they've got and their drivers are some of the best heavy haulage drivers out there. Respect for the driver's and the rest of their team they move some of the biggest loads to hit Britain's roads 🎉🎉🎉

@nigelduckworth4419 Жыл бұрын
Top Drawer. I have not seen a Templecombe model before this. The only difference as far as I can see is that No 2 signal box has an embankment on its north side as opposed to a slope dpwn to the sidings which come from the goods yard. But you can't have everything on a model layout. The Exmouth _ Cleethorpse, an anomaly on the S&D, is a good example to feature.
@chatty1chatty1NickD Жыл бұрын
Thank you. And :-), you are so right - the embankment hides the LSWR mainline en route to hidden sidings beneath. Compromises all round - I really needed 40' by 20' to have a more realistic interpretation. 16' by 12' makes a tight squeeze.
