Parkinson is now often referred to as though he were the gold standard in TV interviewers. I guess he can seem vaguely sensible if compared to Graham Norton, whose interviews never stray far from talk about actors' nude scenes, sex scenes, and embarrassing encounters involving farting, pissing and shitting. But as this interview demonstrates, Parkinson wasn't really that much better - just the same dumb prurience delivered in a more journalistic style.

Great sense of humour and she is just as wise at that age as now, somehow ! How does she do it! Not that I am being ageist but it is as though she is so much the same. And wise beyond her years always

I count 5 National winners, NS, Merryman , Mr What, Kilmore and Team Spirit (the last 2 future winners) and Wyndburgh , 6th here but finished 2nd three times in six attempts. Is that a record ie 5 National winners in the field ?
