I believe Death's Reflection and Ghost School were originally published in shoujo magazines. Hino did write some shoujo horror back in the day, though I'm not 100% sure, if those teo were among them. Though the style def. resembles other shoujo horror.

I'm working my way through PTSD Radio, but I am disappointed that I couldn't find an English printing of Fuan no Tane. I could def read a fan translation, but I really prefer to have a physical copy of things, where possible. So it's either learn Japanese (which I've def tried) or just wait (which could be futile).

There’s something about PTSD Radio that’s just perfect when it comes to unexplainable horror, and after seeing the KZbinr Frightranker tell some of those stories in depth, it made me love the series even more than Junji Ito’s works, the fact that the stories take place at different time periods and how the events of some of those time periods linger on like residual hauntings and look like they are pieces of real life events playing out like a movie/dream sequence. The fact that we may see things that aren’t there but truly were but from another time was a really cool and TRUE concept. It shows that there is more to our universe than that meets the eye, the events, scares and sequences play out just like pictures in a book, but horrifying distorted like a actual dream, but it’s taking place in reality, only it has happened before very so long ago or maybe even just yesterday, or HELL maybe it even hasn’t even happened yet. That’s the beauty of the unexplained and with US as a species, when we die, are we truly gone, or does our spirit truly linger on for ages on end? There are so many mysteries when it comes to life in general. PTSD radio does all that to my brain, it makes me think about the unexplained and if our existence is a blessing or a curse depending on who we were as an individual when we existed alive in the physical realm?? I believe if we were bad or had negative emotions with us when we died, I believe our spirits will manifest like something horrific looking all based on the physical things and mental emotions we were tied to when we were alive. At times those spiritual beings will look so distorted and horrifying that we truly can’t even describe what we are even looking at, and who knows what those beings feel or how they see us when they come across our physical living beings, it’s all a creepy mystery to us. I even believe that some people die so fast and mysteriously, that they don’t even truly realize that they are dead and now a spirit yet. Another thing I loved about the PTSD radio series is the writer bringing his real life into the story too, he did that perfectly in my opinion, it only added to the mystery and made both the story and his true experiences even more scarier.

@jerrym1218 Please without spoilers, but will those time periods connected in some way until the end of the last volume? I have read the first Omnibus (Volume 1 and 2), and they seems so unconnected. Although I found some connections after reading everything in the Nhz order.

Greetings from New Jersey, USA. I love the art of Honda Shingo. Hakaijuu is one of my all time favorite manga. Great finds you had there. Rarity is huge. Through Neokyo, I bought a completed 30 yrs old manga (never translated) that you can't find/read on any pirate scanlation sites. The author went to prison sometime right after it was completed. Got it for a friend who couldn't finish reading it as a kid because there was no complete set around. I'd come across old Tweets of other nostalgic folks in Japan looking to finish reading it as well. Was it worth buying? Hell yeah. Flipping through the old, yellowed pages, knowing it's hard to get a complete set even in Japan. My friend was floored at the gift. Cheers

9:14 Wow. Just, wow. Something that's common-ish in nightmares of mine is that all of a sudden, for seemingly no reason, every "person" currently present will just start giving me a death-stare, but there's something wrong about it. I've never been able to put my finger on it, but it's just so unatural the way they always do it. I've always found it incredibly offputting how it's always just exaggerated or otherwise unnatural enough to seem inhuman, but still normal enough to be recognizable as human. The uncanny valley in its purest form, and it's infinitely uncomfortable. That clip right there nails that feeling of anxiety and dread spot on, and I've never seen anything that comes anywhere close in my entire life and probably never will again. This is why Japanese horror just hits so much harder that any other genre. It successfully puts you in the deepest recesses of the uncanny valley without exaggerating it to the point of silliness or bogging it down with story. There are some truly talented artists out there, artists who deserve every ounce of recognition they receive for their works.

Love love love this series and Seeds of Anxiety. I always likened it to the feeling of walking past a mirror at night. You know for a fact that if you look at the mirror, you'll only see yourself but the nagging feeling that you might see /something else/ makes you avert your eyes and rush past it. It's a very different sense of horror but so far, its my favorite, tied with Junji Ito's best work.
