Mahler # 7 - always felt Mahler was just tired out after 6 symphonies and wrote this one kind of like Beethoven wrote his # 8 after his 7 symphonies. Just wasn't giving a damn about impressing anybody or doing anything different or ground-breaking. But still masterful and magical nonetheless.

Brilliant job by the musicians & Mtro. H. Wolff. Mahler's VII, a real "tableau vivant" of his life, at that time in a crisis, performed better than expected, with gravity, mystery, aplomb & élan up to its final triumph. "Congrats" to the solo Horn (the whole horn section as well) & the timpani player. All these charismatic artists deserve a great future. Tutti bravi.

At around 30:44 the violin plays the last three high notes with her third finger. Very smart. She got it.

Thank you Larry Loesser for your wonderfully insightful comments about these three, great musical icons. I have always admired your intellect and humanity, and your “notes” about these works and composers have further enhanced this admiration. Kudos to Hankus Netsky for his comments about Monk.
