Obviously the motorcycle industry has gone about as far as it can go.Technology has taken the owners understanding of pride of ownership as far as being able to work on his bike as needed which formed a bond. A dumbed down bike, made ugly, which will enable riders with low skills to ride it! Give me any 1100, 1150, 1200, 1200WC or 1250WC GS and I’m a happy owner. The new 1300’s?…no thanks I’d rather buy a Triumph or older GS. Sorry Motorrad, rather hire a CFMoto designer to design the next GS and I’ll look at them again.

@@MOTOLOGUES I’m actually a GS fanboy, I have a 1200 and have had 2 before this bike. My next GS is a 1250 Rally, I just don’t like the new direction they’ve taken, nor do any of my GS mates! Maybe the BMW car designer that made the car nostrils (kidney grill) is now designing their motorcycles. After owning eight 3-Series on the trot, they too have just become too ugly so I’m driving an Audi A4!

Still ugly and cheap looking ( and not as "overall" accomplished in real world as 1250 ) - unless you must must have the latest thing with a bit more power and sportier (read quicker) steering. Its certainly a step backwards in comfort for me. At least the new 1300gsa is even more ugly from what I have seen. As you guessed I wont be buying either.... The most powerful boxer engine ever made? What about the R18?
@MOTOLOGUES6 күн бұрын
The BMW R 1300 GS is more powerful compared to the BMW R18. The R 1300 GS produces 143 hp, whereas the R18 only delivers 91 hp. Although the R18 has higher low-end torque (158 Nm vs. 140 Nm), the peak torque of the R 1300 GS comes at higher RPMs, providing more sustained power across different speeds. This means the R 1300 GS will accelerate faster, have a higher top speed, and climb hills more easily than the R18. The low-end torque of the R18 makes it ideal for relaxed riding and cruiser style. These are different needs and purposes. The R 1300 GS excels in off-road and adventure touring scenarios, while the R18 shines in a more laid-back, classic cruiser experience. Both bikes are impressive in their own right, just designed for different riding styles.

@@MOTOLOGUES it’s the Emperor’s new clothes all over again. We just had it in the UK with so called “Smart Motorways” where the “Hard shoulder” was used as a full time lane. It took a lot of persuasion to overcome this stupidity. It’s like this, a corporate player will explain to an individual why the company is right and that all other customers agree with the corporate line. However, if all customers were asked the question as a group they would collectively disagree with the company. When that’s settled we can get back to the argument about nesting options in menus. Tantamount to texting while driving which is illegal in the UK. Very disappointing.

@@Erictheha1fabee Thanks for sharing your detailed thoughts! I appreciate the analogy and understand your concerns about corporate decisions and safety issues. Desperately needs EFI. Adding EFI to old air cooled motors, even for a Grom, absolutely changes the character of the motor for the better. It also makes life a lot easier because you never have a carb gum up because you didn’t drain the gas before winter.

Gummed up carbs? Use quality fuel before you store the bike! Ethanol in the fuel is a big no-no! I get Shells V-power or Aral Ultimate. Those fuels are essentially ethanol free. Never had a problems when doing this, even after 6-7 month not using the bike they come back to "live" with out problems!

Good things owners can easily and inexpensively tune the carb and uncork the exhaust, and the effective mods have been understood for decades 😆 The 650 is a stalwart bombproof reliable engine and while it's not a powerhouse, it is powerful enough to do it's job and they are great for doing wheelies, so there is that! The only real beef I have with the 650 is it should have the same quality suspension that the DR-Z 400 has. Ya, the 400 is sprung and valved way too soft, but it has far more tunable and advanced cartridge suspension which can be tuned to work quite well. I had a built 400, that bike's achilles is it's close ratio 5 speed borrowed from the off road "E" and "K" models. The DR-Z was a 6 speed wide ratio transmission away from dual sport perfection.
@MOTOLOGUES24 күн бұрын
@JamesPiccone Oh, got it! So they can't make changes due to existing EPA regulations. Hopefully, there'll be a way to update things while still following the rules
