"Fat people joke" means a fat joke about people. You need the hyphen to express what you meant, "fat-people joke." Also you need quotation marks for the name of the show, as in "Out of England" stand-up show, because when you write 'Out of England Stand up show' that way it means that this is an up show called 'Out of England Stand.' Please learn grammar; it's important.

Every time I see this video it makes me want to scream and wish you wake up really fat and miserable. You clearly have no idea what it’s like to be seriously overweight and it is a disease, partly self inflicted but it is more a reflection of a mental health/ emotional issue which is a recognised medical condition and the the correction is really not as easy as “stop eating “. Trade in your cheap gibes for a cheap laugh and show a little empathy and understanding instead of blind ignorance.

It takes less than a month of „binge eating“ to add up the bodyweight surplus, which took you more than 6 month to lose. Ricky helps opening peoples eyes, as it‘s not easy to tell your „friends“, that after 20 years or more, of not taking care of your bodyweight, you made a big step ahead. Too many of your family & friends don‘t congratulate or even support, but first ask for the quick recipe you followed - and when you explain, its everything, but quick or easy. All they are looking forward to, is your too-soon-to-be-true failure. 🫣

Another scientific fact is that humans crave sugar and fat, because in our ancestral environment these things were scarce. That's why it's easy for us to become addicted to sugary and fatty foods, and become overweight. It's also why the food industry puts too much sugar in everything. So it's a bit more complicated than Ricky is making out.

Obesity is definitely a problem. It could definitely be defined as a sickness or addiction (not that it absolves fatsos from responsibility). I honestly feels like an addiction. Being fat makes you lazy and depressed. It makes workout much harder since you can injure yourself if you’re fat. The hunger feels like an addiction. It really sucks. But it can be overcome and it’s not that hard. Also the jokes are hilarious. 😂

To be fair, the actual "disease" (if such it may be called) of obesity it mental food addiction. I am over 500#, & was raised being praised & lauded for an adult appetite while still in single digits. (i.e. an entire 16" pizza at 9 y.o. in a single sitting, & 3 ½# plates of popcorn shrimp at Red Lobster around 11 y.o.) This planted the seeds of food addiction in my young psyche. Now that I'm grown it's completely my responsibility to do something about it... which I don't because I'm stubborn against therapy. But I also don't complain or make fasle threats to "do better" or "get help" or whatever bullshit fat asses say to get unwarranted sympathy. I am the way I am because I choose it & I'll change if & when I want to.

@@Ooth9999 disagree. He was always referring to extremely fat people (he mentioned their weight) in this routine. To provide more evidence of vidictive nature of his jokes, he did this same fat routine after he'd lost alot of weight and was no longer fat himself. In that routine he never mentioned the weight of the fat people he was making jokes about. He's inconsistent and is not making fun of himself , on the contrary. He's making fun of people fatter than himself. If he'd made the joke about cake and then later taken a sneaky bite of cake, I'd agree but he doesn't. I suspect Gervais is nasty at heart tbh. Might be wrong, we'll never know. Nevertheless I agree with him, fat people are fat because they eat more carbs than they burn. Many reasons why people do that, some are very sad reasons.

I almost choked on my mushroom. 🤣 I agree that it's the fault or doing of the person if he's overweight or obese, even when depressed or whatnot, realistically speaking. Genetics is not a good enough reason. People have to recognize that disadvantaged people also have to own up to their problem (if they are to be treated equally), forgive themselves, act upon it and seek help. That said, on no account should they be treated less and neglected.

I can agree with this. I was put on medication that made me want to eat constantly. I was getting up in the early hours to eat because I was so hungry that I had stomach pains. It was definitely the medication, as soon as I stopped taking it those hunger pains went away. It took a while to lose the weight I'd gained but I'm fit again now.

The US is the fattest country on the planet, it's embarrassing.There's no good excuse for it either. Once I feel myself gaining a couple pounds, I actually do something about it, with cleaner eating and exercise. All else is pure laziness.

Utterly true and that's from me who has just been to fat club😁😉😉😉acceptance is the way forward, I was #fatshamed by my mam and brothers and vice versa growing up, its called being honest when someone looks overweight and its basically unhealthy, understandable with mental health depression etc but were too soft these days!! If it wasn't for someone actually TELLING me I was putting the beef on, by the way, it was something I was WELL aware of, I wouldnt be 15 pounds lighter and smiling now instead of wallowing in crisps and self pity 🙄 hahhaa Love Ricky G xx
