Where did you get those molle panels for the outside rear windows? Love the build. I finally made a roof rack up out of unistrut. I sure wasn’t going to pay thousands of dollars for something I can make myself. Also how much for the dual swinging hitch mount? I need something like that so I can open up space in the cargo area. Slowly but surely getting my build going on my 2017 trailhawk.

@@OverlandingOurWay Thanks for the comment! Regarding the swingout, you’ll have to reach out to Jerry at Beastfab regarding the swing out. Depending on the setup it was anywhere from $2,000 - $3,000. Molle panel is from Victory 4x4

Yea, essentially at that price point they’re not for the average off-roader but rather an ultra 4 build. Definitely made out decision to find another plan easier 😅

I have a 2017 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7. I specifically found one without air suspension. I've got the lift, tires, and winch. I wish you luck. I just don't see the WK as a good foundation. I traded in my JK for it to be able to take the family and big dog on trips and still be able to overland in the Smokey Mountains. Regardless, I'm interested to see what you end up with.

Thanks man for the comment! I certainly agree that there are better platforms for such a build. If there was more of an aftermarket and a body on design life would be much easier. Among the reasons listed in the video I love the uniqueness of the build and the comforts of the wk2 platform. It’s been such a great learning process and exciting journey but damn nothings been easy along the way! We’ll be sure to keep the videos coming

And now you know why you can't run 35's on big offset wheels on independent suspension vehicles. No mater how many parts you replace, something else will brake next time !! And besides your gas millage sucks because you can't re-gear. I run 33's on +12 offset wheels with OME suspension from Rocky Road and still get over 500 miles on a tank of gas. Rocky Road sells a suspension kit to eliminate the air shocks !!

Ehh you do know that IFS is what trophy trucks run and I’m pretty sure they have no problem with their offset. With that being said we’re so far beyond spec this was bound to happen which is why we’re excited to do the first ever solid axel swap on the platform. To me the benefits of the swap far outweighed what I’d get with the air delete. In regard to gas mileage, if we were worried about that we’d buy a hybrid. Knew that was going out the window long ago 😂 gotta say this rig continues to prove it’s a capable Offroad vehicle time and again. This SAS will just take it to another whole level

@@wk2hawk That will be very interesting to see. But of course a person like me can’t do it on my own and cost will be a factor to see if it is worth it. I just keep asking myself how much do I want to invest in this and how long is the wk2 going to last. I’m hoping for a million mile 😜

Daymmm, your wk2 build is absolutely next level! I have a set of KMC Grenade Crawl machines Bead-locks on order for my wk2, I thought I was gonna be the first but you beat me to it I guess😂 mine are the 0 offset 8.5s (they won’t look nearly as good) Props for your dedication to the platform, I’m an American Ex-Pat living in Australia and I’ve got a early wk2 Summit I’m building for overlanding. Newer Wrangler Rubicons are above $90k here so a wk2 is the only (sorta) affordable option .Also doing 285/70/17 and it’s awesome to see someone showing how they got it done. Are you running Falken Wildpeak MTs in the above size? I’m considering a few options but I’m just curious how the width of those tyres does with rubbing, online is says they’re only 9.1 wide but they look pretty meaty in your video. Looking forward to what comes next, there is a growing community of properly built wk2s. 🧼

Thanks for the comment and awesome to hear about your build! Yes I’m running the Falken MT’s in that size. Definitely took a lot of work but we made it work. Loved the stance with that offset and size tires but this SAS will be next level. Excited to share an update soon

Original plan was a LT but that still required a solid axel in the rear and we couldn’t quite figure out all the electronics with just swapping one axel. SAS will be a game changer for real

@@wk2hawk I’m going over scenarios in my head since mine will be paid off soon. I don’t want to just put on a bought 2.5” kit with no travel and also am thinking of swapping an LS or LT motor or Go Hemi. Did you go with axels out of a Ram?

Glad those toe links worked out for ya;) Sounds like a streak of bad luck but it just means you're finding all the weak points! I wonder if its all the added weight causing these issues. It looks like you could be quite a bit over the payload capacity

Stock suspension, weight, and offset all pushed this thing well beyond spec. I could do the coil over swap to address it as others have but have been exploring this SAS for some time and are excited to see where it’ll lead us.

I see you cut the stock flares off. Are you running any type of fender liner?
@wk2hawk
@wk2hawk 8 ай бұрын
Originally I trimmed them back quite a bit but ultimately thanks to all of our trips and the larger tires there’s not a fender liner left on this thing. I plan on spraying them with some time of bed liner but we’ll see when this next phase is done what we come up with.
