I received a bottle of Etna gin as a gift and it has a large rose colored ?plastic cap but it will not twist off. Is it a twist cork cap that I pull out? Help!
@highongin
@highongin Ай бұрын
I just took a look at my bottle: The inner part of stopper is not made out of cork but is made out of plastic. It is not a twist cork but a very plain plastic stopper. Unfortunately I cannot attach a picture here but if you sent me a PM via my instagram account - highongin_dk - I am more than happy to show you how it looks. Hope you get it solved without damaging the bottle or the stopper.

I must admit that I love these Special Editions - but yes, it is not always they are better than the original. Citadelle did an amazing job with their Special Editions especially the Juniper Decadence… that one is mind blowing. I actually did a video about Tanqueray No 10 Citrus Heart Edition, that you talk about - and I absolutely agree, it is a perfect twist to the original. Thanks for watching!

What do you think about the elderflower limited edition from Ene? I am not sure what to think about gin mixed with Elderflower juice, and not just destilled with the elderflowers itself like the owner started with, until the food authorities prohibited him to do that. And from a single elderberry tree placed right outside the factory in Aakirkeby - funny little story we were told on a visit om Wild Destillery last summer :)

Actually, I haven’t tried the elderflower gin from Ene, but I would love to 😊 Strange, that he was prohibited to distill then - do you know why that was???

@highongin
@highongin 9 ай бұрын
Interesting - any particular reason why you are looking for the 5th edition? As far as I can see it was rested in a Caroni Rum Cask - but only 329 bottles were made back in 2018. I can see one on eBay but at 999 euros 😳
@slammerw3
@slammerw3 9 ай бұрын
@@highongin damn,,, wayyyy out of my budget. I got the 8th edition from Liquid Gold in Hong Kong ( I think it's the official retail outlet for the 8th edition ). The 5th edition, yes you're right, it's matured in Caroni Casks. The thing is Caroni is a defunct state company in Trinidad ( that's where I'm from ). So to get a bottle will be similar to an homage. I think an italian came to Trinidad and purchased the rum division of Caroni and shipped it to Italy.
@highongin
@highongin 9 ай бұрын
@@slammerw3 That make sense - then the good news is, that the 21st edition of Ki Noh Bi is also made from a Caroni cask and that one is somewhat easier to get… and a bit cheaper (something like 230€) Still a heck of a price but at least lower 😂 An alternative is to get the Italian gin “Engine” - probably best known for their “oil can” bottle. They have also made a cask version using casks from Caroni. This one is around 80€. Just an idea 😊

So - I know I am a bit late to the party. But this isn’t gin. Even if Rochelt says, that it is gin - it isn’t. 1) Gin is not only based on juniper - but on juniper *and* coriander seeds. 2) Gin is *always* based on neutral alcohol. So Corenwijn, Jenever, Wacholder (... - all spirits which are flavored in one or the other way with juniper - are simply not gins - but distillate similar to gin).

Wow what a creative direction to go in during a pandemic when having to stay put! It takes so much knowledge to create a gin spirit! This sounds like a fabulously made gin (Opus!!) and I would love to be able to try this gin! 21 botanicals is so interesting! I am usually more of a fan of a strong London Dry gin but hey I also love well made craft gins and this one sounds spectacular!! Log and spicy and herbal sounds so delicious!! I admire this creative endeavour to create such a beautiful gin and I love hearing about how the name Opus came about! How fascinating! The Greek letters and the 11 bracelets are fabulous!! Now that's creative!! Elderflower tonic, thyme and lemon sounds outstanding to me for a way to serve this gin!!! I'd love one of these delicious cocktails right now!! This is such a terrific video!! Thank you so much for bringing all this great information about this gin to your viewers!! I love learning!! I am a gin nerd!! That's fine with me!! Cheers!! 🙂

Such a well made video. Few little suggestions? Hope it’s fine? 1) should’ve tasted the neptunia first, on a “clean” palate and then the regular one 2) should’ve ideally waited just a little longer (or should’ve openly cut to …. 2 mins later… with a cleaner palate for the next one. Viewers would’ve liked that more I feel ) Either way, nicely made video. Although i really hope it gets a lot more views cos it feels quite a bit underrated wrt views. Good luck and keep them coming :) Love and light from Mumbai, India

@@highongin well, people might not taste more versions together at once. I just meant to say that if you’re tasting both versions together (for sake of viewers) you rather taste the newer version first. Yes I’m in Mumbai, but KZbin is now a small world (along with the world of spirits) Also, you’re right about the KZbin algorithm. There are so many “spirits reviewers” from India who are getting unbelievable amounts of views. And most of their video is absolutely rubbish, honestly speaking. But yes, we have decent population here so it just compounds, as senseless as it might be. Your video along with even the thumbnails are beautiful. So classy. My ex gf is a KZbin “influencer” here with 5 million subs and I’ve seen the kind of work that goes into the videos. Having said that, one thing you could do is say “if you’re a gin connoisseur/ enthusiast/ etc, and if you like this video, be sure to like and share. Also subscribe to this channel for more fun reviews” Or something similar You seem like a nice guy. I wouldn’t spend so much time writing to you otherwise :) Take care and cheers Drink up

But again - I only do it for fun and for the love of gin! I love the fact that the world of spirit has become so “small” and that we all get to taste gin from all over the world.
