All of this can be done with sponge, an old blender and coloring and twigs

Needed to hear this two weeks ago. I put a stop to my armour model collecting and I told myself I have to build atleast half the kits I have before I get more. I literally don’t have room for them anymore, under my model display shelf is half full, I have a wall shelf full of them, and under my desk. It’s ridiculous. Mind you I already have four kits going😅

I get it that you need something new. It's part of moving on but isn't always easy. I however am brand new to model railroading, that's part of my moving on and I have already learned a lot from you! I am wondering if you might consider a video on how you make 3D Printing work for you. I confess I know nothing about it as I am an old dude and it is a newer technology. Just say'in. Thanks!

There was an April issue of Model Railroader where a company had produced what they called the ultimate kit. It was a piece of 2x4 and a razor blade. Instructions were to use the razor blade to remove all the parts from the 2x4 which didn't look like the model you were making.

Love your sense of humor Doug, not to mention your modeling skills and teaching skills. I'm so sorry you've lost your wife. It will get easier as time passes. Steve

Nothing more I can say which hasn't been said by others..I do have an idea/question: Can not, the 4 steel columns and all they're supporting above them be removed, along with all the lighting above the layout ? Or, are they integral with the building itself (which I'd tend to doubt) ? 'Tis a shame, after such complex trackwork, scenery and structure making; the hours and dedication to detail, that you have to destroy any of it.. In any event, it is merely a hobby. Just be 100% sure when you remake the benchwork it's going to serve your needs in every way, far as supporting whatever you lay atop it and/or even redo something yet again, that the worst of it, benchwork itself, will never again be an issue..

Just saw your video, some things I do is to use liquid tape. Good for insulating solder connections and can be use to block holes where there is light leaks. I also use PCM and use JMRI to control the automation of off/on of my lights. Amazon and AliExpress have good pricing on LED’s. Great video. Thank You.

Great job! Forgive my newbie questions: how much does that plaster wall weigh? What material did you use to fix it on layout? Thanks and congrats again

Doug, thank you for the update. Sad to see the layout go, but the reasons for the move are very valid. I hope you are doing well, and hopefully you will share your journey with the new layout with us. Cheers, and stay safe, Happy New Year, Michael

You have created an awesome layout and it is a shame it has to be torn down. You have put in many hours to create what you have but you will have many more hours of enjoyment building the new layout so, enjoy and I look forward to following the new build. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the sage advice and the trip down memory lane with Emporium Seafood and Jeffries point. I’d love to build them again, but their prices on eBay have gone crazy. Hoping you’ll come out with new O-scale kits.

I did this a few years ago making individual boxes from black poster paper, open on one side with "ears/flanges" on 4 sides of the opening. Making the box large enough to hide an LED. Then glue the box to the inside of the building.

Thank you Doug, and so sorry for what you are going through. I understand your reasons for starting a new layout. I wish I could do the same, but it's taken me 30 years to get nowhere on my simple 4x8. You are an inspiration. I can't wait to see the new project.
