I would have thought by this day and age science would have better a/c units than this. I have the 26x boat like yours and I have a entryway window unit which I use with my small super quiet generator. It works okay but only 5000 btu so hot days are still hot. I will be setting sail around Key West then I hope to get to the Bahamas and maybe the Dominica Republic in November after hurricane season. Thanks for sharing your videos.

Hello, Yes! I saw this was available after I bought the SeaMax Wheels. Please let me know how they work out for you. Super cool to be able to use one set of brackets for both. may i ask if after using, do your smart trim tabs add speed or any other advantage? didn't see a link to them?
@ChristopherQuest
@ChristopherQuest 14 күн бұрын
Hello, The trim tabs I use on the FB365 are from Saturn. They are available on their website. I have the smart tabs from amazon on my 14.1 Bris. The smart tabs have a gas plunger that allows the tab to flatten out as you get speed. The saturn tabs are stationary. The gas plungers have a limited life span but work much much better than the longer saturn tabs. Just the truth. I bought the saturn tabs to assist with pulling the boat behind my Macgregor 26x and the addition does help eliminate the drag and it does help to get on plane for sure. Thanks for watching - hope that helps.

Comment #2 I don't know the Texas laws. In Florida..... It is illegal to dump piss or poop overboard. But, it is LEGAL to piss or poop over the rail. I heard that from SENATOR Marco Rubio when he called in to my friend's fishing talk radio show. Personally??? In the middle of a bay or ocean with current and tides, seems harmless. In a marina? That would be uncool. In a fresh water river where algae bloom kills fish... especially in the summer.... extra uncool.

Hello, this is really interesting information. So you can pee overboard, but if you pee in a bottle and dump it overboard, that's illegal, lol - that's crazy but I believe it. I was a R.N. for 25 years. I had a patient who was an outboard engineer. He said he worked mostly for Mercury but worked for OMC, too. I asked the expected life of my Mercury 2 stroke 25 hp. He didn't even hesitate. .... "6,000 hours. We put them on a stand. Hook up fuel. Put lower unit in water. Then, run them until they blow. 5,000 to 6,000 minimum." After I met him.... I no longer cared about "hours." I only cared about the "type" of hours. Did the previous owner keep up with maintenance???? The most dangerous thing for an outboard is sitting. Run it, and it will never die. If you did The Great Loop, which is 5,000 miles ... And did it at 10 mph... that's only 500 hours. At 15 mph? 333 hours.... That gives you an idea how much life that engine has.... if you do maintenance, listen to her, and treat her right..... You will die first. Enjoy it. I enjoyed the clip. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.

@ChristopherQuest If there are no fish.... NO bait will work....live, shiny, stinky... Top water is a good "find them" lure. There are times that a fish is NOT coming out of 20' of water to hit a surface lure. Most fish will. A catfish is NOT. A red fish will not more than 4'-5' .... They love them in shallow water. I look at top water like knitting. You cast and reel for about 10 minutes. If they're there, they will let you know. Lately.... surface walker lures are the most popular. It takes coordination to walk the lure, but mostly.... it takes EFFORT. I am lazy. I like a cup faced popper or a prop on the back (not front and back because it gets caught up in the front propeller). I like a heavy lure. Casts further. Little fish eat big lures. Big bait big fish. Go big. My favorite is Big Chug.... Then MirrOlure's "Mirro-prop" but take off the front prop. Not as heavy as I like.... but.. You can pop it, steady retrieve... troll. Pop-stop-reel-stop-pop... way easier than walking which is constantly twitch reel twitch reel.... Remember.... Once you catch one or two, they will "catch on" and stop being fooled. Then use your jig. They'll never catch on. Lastly ! Clamp down the barbs on ALL treble hooks. You won't lose fish. I promise. But they come out of the fish (if you're releasing), lines, clothes, seat cushions, etc but MOSTLY they come out of PEOPLE ! Trust me on this.... barbless. I do for jigs too. But not with bait. It will come off the hook. Artificial jig? Barbless. I only use artificial. All barbs get clamped before they get on my boat... ALL.

@ChristopherQuest

Hello, Honestly they both have their uses. The Bris has a more substantial feel with larger 18" tubes, 20hp and alum floor. The FB365 has an air floor, 9.9 engine, 16" tubes - much lighter and easier to tow and move on land. I prefer the larger tube diameter of the Bris, but I sure am sold on the air deck of the saturn for a dingy. You just can't beat the cost/value of either of these boats.

Awesome! Keep in mind, you are going to be creating a load in the refrigerated space, so the temperature of the space will be higher than your recorded temperatures. I wonder about making a box to use the exhaust air to pre-cool the air going into the air conditioner. Also, you might have condensation accumulate/absorb into the insulating blankets. What a cool experiment...
@ChristopherQuest
@ChristopherQuest Ай бұрын
Hi Jeff! Definitely if the intake for the cooled air comes from inside - recirculated air would be much more efficient to cool. - You are right about the heat - I have found that the compressor fan works pretty good at evacuating the internal heat. I will keep an eye on it for sure. The AC actually seems to dry the air, of course - still have to try in the real world! Thanks for watching! Hope all is good in PA.
