Sorry guys but the vevor machine I bought is a total piece of crap! Heat temperature was going all over the place and not constant at all. Ruined several hats before I checked the temperature with a temp gun. Temp would rise and fall by 35 to 40 degrees the whole time it was on. I was not aware of it until I ruined a few hats. Tech support said that was normal. That was my answer and solution. Awful way to lose money. Threw it in the trash. They would not honor my warranty. Done. Best be careful when buying this machine or at least check it out before your 30 days runs out.

Yeah, it can be a bit of a crapshoot when buying heat presses that are lower in cost. The only way around it is to buy the more expensive models from places like Pro World. This model in in the video has worked well for me. I’ve used it for hats and other small areas on shirt pockets and and stuff. However, I purchased mine from amazon and the first one had a faulty control unit. I actually contacted the manufacturer, not amazon. They sent me a brand new one and it’s been great! Sorry for your experience.

I gotta say, I ordered the baritone version of this uke last year and I have no issues like what you're experiencing. I love this thing, sounds great frets are NOT sharp whatsoever, preamp works great. Granted I ordered this directly from the Kala website, the majority of my ukes are kala and I love them. Its unfortunate this was your first uke experience.

Thanks for the review. Sorry to hear there were so many issues but some of them you’ve addressed. I was surprised it.cost $139, Kala makes some costlier instruments that look pretty good. The unbalanced signal between strings is a headscratcher. Is it an under saddle pickup or just a poorly-placed contact mic? Good luck.

Hi very good review. I sympathize and understand your pain with regards to the poor setup. I have received a few stinkers myself in the last 6 months that I have been playing the Ukulele. The commenter before me has brought up most of the same points I was going to tell you. I have learned not to buy uke's from Amazon, Guitar Center, or even Sweetwater. Sweetwater is awesome if your buying a guitar and it is priced $399 or higher as they will then give you their free 55 point inspection. I know that Kala offers a similar free inspection if you purchase from them directly. I am very surprised about the sharp frets you have to deal with and the faulty tuning pegs that's not typical of Kala's usual quality control and should have never arrived to you in that condition. I own 3 Kala baritone uke's and bought them from an online Uke store in the US which also happens to be one of the most famous Uke online schools. They offer their customers a free 57 point inspection and for an additional fee they offer a basic setup which includes adjusting the action at the nut and saddle, and a advanced setup that refines the nut profile, intonates the saddle, smooths the nut and bridge and most important, reshape the fret ends and level/crown frets. I always go with the advanced setup and also have them add strap buttons at the heel if needed. The frets on my Kala baritones all came with semi hemi ends, polished and smooth as glass. They are even smoother than my Taylor GS Mini.

Thanks for the sound advice and recommendation. I agree and even mentioned in my review that the model I purchased was not a higher end instrument, however I do believe that it should have e been somewhat better than what I received. Just some very basic expectations such as…. Tuning key heads that are secure, and electronics that function properly. Not too much to expect. I can deal with the rest. I also agree that spending a few more dollars to get a better instrument is great advice. Thanks again for the comment and for checking out my review.

I have not experienced noise issues. I will say when the pitch correction is engaged more than about halfway, there seems to be some artifacts created by the effect. I think that is fairly typical of most pitch correction. I only use the pedal for live application. I don’t know if there is more noise floor to signal ratio when using for recording. @seemycapeproductions7833

Hello, yeah, the creases can be an issue. Especially with the foam based trucker style hats. You need to be extra careful with how much heat you use so you don’t scorch or melt the hat. I have not used this style of hat for that reason. However you might try using Teflon sheets on top and see if you get better results. I use them on my regular hats at it seemed to decrease the amount of indentation made by the press. Here’s a link: amzn.to/3qJKhuU Good luck. Let me know if it works for you.

I think the older Mic Mechanics with the gain knobs were hotter at the output. The newer Mic Mechanic 2 is more or less at unity gain when the Tone button is on. Oddly, it’s a smidge hotter than unity when the Tone is off. So I think it boosts the signal maybe 3dB or so and then the Tone button uses subtractive EQing to clean the sound and get it back down to unity gain.

Hello, great question. Although I’m not a professional my suggestions would be… 1. Make sure you don’t have the the heat plate too tight. Maybe experiment by loosening the tension some. 2. Make sure the heat plate is not too hot so you do not overheat and burn the hat. 3. Make sure you have the inside rim of the hat folded out so that it is not in the press when applying the patch or appliqué. 4. Lastly, I use Teflon sheets between the heat press and my hat to avoid burn and impression of the plate amzn.to/3Zm4wvB I hope these suggestions help. Cheers!

Hello, the spring tensioner helps pull the cap tightly against the heat bed. However, it’s important to make sure your heat settings are not too hot for the materials in the cap. Nylon is probably more sensitive and could be damaged with too much heat. That being said, this heat press is durable and works as it should and expected.
