why is it that you can't use dome light at the same time with any other kinds of light? once you introduce any add the light to the seen the dome light turns off.
@TheFriendsOfMotionАй бұрын
@@TheAptimn that is strange, that never happens to me , are you sure dome light is not at zero brightness? What version of c4d are u using?
@TheAptimnАй бұрын
@TheFriendsOfMotion actually, it does work but sort of decreases it's own impact on the objects in the scene (e.g the object suddenly becomes darker) whenever any additional light source is introduced. I found out that it's better to use sky+sun to ensure a more stable global illumination, that does not react to any additional light sources like that.

It's interesting that it would have taken them months... I believe that too. As someone who works in the industry, what is your usual timeline for making a similar animation for a large company?
@TheFriendsOfMotion3 ай бұрын
@@RinneganMan-h5f great question. usually something like this would be 2-3 months from brief to finish , sometimes they would send out the brief way in advance. Lookdev and exploration could take weeks, but luckily big companies like this have budgets for lookdev /rnd . At the end it’s only maybe 60 seconds, but believe me, lots of hours and loads of artist virtual sweat and tears . The sad part with Apple projects is, they can’t put it in their portfolio or even tell people they worked on it 😢.It would be nice if Apple can put some spotlights on creatives like Microsoft does.

Nice one. You could use a little ring surface and a mesh emitter to shoot particles to the outside only. But I guess you need the option for splines anyway. But also there..if you have a random spline you could build a tiny surface along it and emit from there.

Likely is using the additive blend setting in the incandescent material. I used to use Cycles 4D for very similar effects to this as it had an additive node, so I was hyped when Redshift added this feature. Basically any transparent pixels on top will be multiplied by the values behind getting that wispy effect.

Thanks for all the tips. How would you add on any reflections over the screen? My guess would be through more AOV reflection passes and a reflective material. Or do you think there’s a better way?
@TheFriendsOfMotion5 ай бұрын
To be honest, sometimes I just put fake ‘cheap’ reflection as a layer, use the same mask but put a picture of a window or trees or what ever you want to reflect (in After effects 3D space slightly closer to camera in z space ) and on ‘screen’ 20% opacity and blur it out. The expensive reflection would be to have an actual reflection pass rendered out, but then you have to place whatever you want to reflect very strategically in the right place in c4d.
@ricardojaimes66045 ай бұрын
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Thank you so much for the response. That makes sense. I guess sometimes it makes sense to just stick with a less expensive method. I didn’t think about having to potentially model a detailed background. Again, thanks so much for posting all of this helpful information. I’ve only watched two tutorials but they’re very helpful in the way I think about approaching certain scenes.
