C4D 2023.1: Painting with Pyro

I think your animation is too quick , try adding more frames and give it more time to complete. Let me know if it works?

Hi there! Brilliant tutorial that was very educational and a lot of fun! But I have a question about rendering the scene, or really any specific frame. Nothing shows up when I hit the render to picture viewer, and nothing I check or uncheck seems to be making any kind of a difference, so I bought the file from Gumroad to make sure I've got the exact settings right, but I run into this same issue when rendering out even the gumroad file where the only thing that renders is the studio backdrop. Do you know what I might be doing wrong?

Hi there, sorry that you are going trough that, I know it can be very frustrating. Hopefully your question will also help others. Lets walk through some trouble shooting steps: 1. Make sure in the pyro object tabs, density and color is ON 2. In the Cache tab on Pyro object, clear cache and uncheck Enabled 3. Lets check hardware: create fresh untitled project and put pyro on a simple sphere , do you see something? 5. Is the surface emitter on brush tip enabled? 6. Copy and paste the ampersand gumroad project in fresh scene , do you see it now? 7. Cache scene, see if that works? I did the same like you in the adding volume masher part, but somewhere the line is become like weird rgb mixed color, like if you see the 3D picture without glass... Does anybody know what could be wrong?

Hi, redshift newbie. Love the tutorial and want to do it- but- My figure is just permanently washed out when I add the area light. Turning down the intensity looks ok in the editors but in the renderer wiped. Is there some other setting that I missed?

Mmm, usually what you see in viewport should match your render, what happens when you try a fresh new scene and just render one light with a cube and see if it looks correct in redshift?

Amazing tutorial!! I am struggling with the rendering part. I don't know why there are white artifacts in my render even after following every step. These artifacts are kind of white triangles around the edges of the pyro. They appear only when I apply color. Could you please help?

Make sure you don’t have two Pyro on top of each other , also redo the color vertex map if you change anything on the spline, it will need to recalculate. Lastly, just do a simple scene with a sphere and Pyro and first see if that works

I'm having the same problem. Latest version of C4D and Redshift (maxon one user), and I get this in the project I bought from your GumRoad store - so all the settings would be correct. When I do follow the tutorial from scratch it also occurs. Did Maxon break something again?@@TheFriendsOfMotion

@@aishwaryakarandikar7697 Thanks for the pointer. Yes, changing the Density Smoothing Factor and Velocity Smooth Factor in the Global/Default Pyro scene helped counter it, but has led changed the look.

Oh, Ignmore my earlier comments. Just change the Density Threshold and it's fine. Set incredibly low. Even 1 removes the white boxes.

Thank you for sharing this. For some reason the vertex color tag is showing weird red green and blue colors instead of the colors in the pyro volume material. Might be showing the vectors instead of the colors. In C4D 2024 the pyro system has changed quit a bit from the C4D 2023 that you are using. Is it passible that this vertex tag is not working the same way anymore on the new C4D? I tried everything but couldn't get it to work

Have you watched the whole video, I’ve gone through a few ‘gotcha’ tabs and checkboxes that you need to check, there are quite a few before you will see anything. If it still doesn’t work, try a fresh scene with just a sphere and Pyro on the sphere first

@@popov3d mmm is the surface emitter checked on? it’s just above surface thickness in the Pyro tab.Try a fresh scene with Pyro on a spline like a circle perhaps? Sometimes it might not be you but a bug or an accidental checkbox- I find fresh scenes are the best trouble shooting method.

I haven’t tried it it but I would assume if you can see it in the viewport you should be able to render it in physical. It’s just easier for me to Art direct in redshift
