With both of the new releases, and just somehow finding out about these guys despite playing in bands in and being a big fan of this very genre at the very time they were breaking years ago… I gotta say, it’s rare that dudes have the technical ability of these cats, and the feel/flow/catchiness at the same time. Deep dived all the old stuff, still don’t know how I didn’t catch wind of this stuff years ago, I mean, I am in the states so that probably played a part. But this is the type of things fans, like myself are constantly hoping for and very rarely ever actually get. A band with the ability to write songs like these dudes did back in the early 2000s, and the tool chest to go that heavy, while still sounding legitimate and not at all manufactured/unauthentic (like most modern metal).

I love this song for what it is- the new sound/ evolution of the band/appealing to new generations. But it’s always going to be very difficult to get a huge response from the fans when you change the successful formula of the original Sunk sound. I think the old school fans were kinda expecting something like a “Sunken Eyes 2.0”, “Everything Everyway 2.0” etc. Those bouncy heavy parts, melodic grooves, the trademark wah soaked passages, the soaring epic chorus’s, etc. The peak of this song is the clean passage thru the middle, classic sunk vibes. I just think some old school fans have been thrown off by the blistering aggression, and missing that perfect blend/balance of heavy and melodic? I love everything that Sunk do, that is just my perspective of the new song so far

Jason - I can feel your rawness in this song, and I’m feeling you for how both very easy but also hard this would’ve been to write. Particularly lines like “a fucking mirror of your father, and all the hell that he gave you, you’re giving to me” I see you and what you’re saying with this song, about a former brother - I reckon your best song ever, you’re one in a generation.
