There’s so much more to the story that we’re not being told. The father literally showed up in California to help look for his daughter and then killed himself? Something’s very screwed up with this story.

Native Hawaiian and all Maui roots here. If the father was in his clear mind: I can't imagine a father not leaving a note behind for his missing daughter before he made the final decision to end his life. Plus it would be odd that he did not leave a note to his other daughter, Sydney, or to the rest of his family on Maui, and all these people helping or at least one for Hannah for when / IF she is found. He would NOT choose to create more distress and mysteries surrounding this investigation or create any distractions from the main investigation and focus on finding Hannah. HOWEVER this is ALL logical thinking. The REALITY of this situation is Ryan Kobayashi the father was SO EXHAUSTED from days of searching and talking and endless Q & As with strangers and LE, going days without sleep or very short naps ...but certainly not uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep , after walking for hours and hours on Skid Row (and that scene is beyond scary...watch some of the interviews on Single White Underbelly channel on YT for a real scope of current life on Skid Row) and this alone would have been a terrible experience for the him to go though as a loving father, the fear of Hannah being in a situation like drugs and crime and despair of Skid Row...would have ADDED MORE STRESS. Then he is also likely by himself...with all those unanswered questions running through his mind while trying to stay away awake on pure adrenaline.... driving around all of LA in so much traffic, under so much duress. Just lack of sleep for so many days can make anyone delusional and suicidal. He was not in his right mind when he took his own life. Anyone who has gone 3 days straight without sleep knows how fast one can become completely delusional and under the right conditions like his- despondent, hopeless, grief-stricken father in agony over his missing daughter. Without restorative sleep ...he just simply cracked. The brain plays tricks on itself in attempt to keep going but without giving it proper resets of rest and restorative sleep, so he may have heard voices calling out to him that sounded like Hannah's voice or even visions of Hannah reaching out to him and he fell over the railing attempting to reach out to her. Anything is possible when you are under extreme stress, depressed and grieving, and the main factor: sleep deprivation. Anyone would crack under those conditions. No suicide notes, no calls to say goodbye, no distress signals: because those are what rational minded clear headed thinking people do. He was a loving father by accounts. It's such a tragedy for the family left behind.
