It's not difficult to come to the conclusion that she missed her flight to NY on purpose because 1) her ex-boyfriend who was on the same flight made the connection, 2) she told her family that she could not find a flight from LA to NY for 2 days. There are over 2 dozen flgihts between LA and NY daily, it would be very hard to not be able to get on a flight to go from LA to NY, and 3) I don't know about anyone else, but if I were desperate to get on a connecting flight from LA to NY, I would have stayed at the airport until I got on a flight. I would not have left the airport and gone to town and wandered around.

She didn't walk there and it's not like it's just outside of LAX, it's a good distance through the city, taking about an hour to get there in traffic. It's definitely not a difficult conclusion to come to, she didn't go to The Grove in between flights with the intention of making it back in time.

Someone I knew once “went missing” for days. Had phone off … it was on for a brief second and someone picked up and then hung up again. We were all convinced they were in trouble.
