I typically scan the rulebook for a turn overview. Then I read through the rules until I feel I can play a turn, then set it up and walk though step by step. Once that makes sense then I rarely refer back to the rules if they are written well enough.

Marine Worlds is a great expansion. Fixes minor bugs, but introduced new ones Mike had the worst new action cards and the worst map, while nick the best action cards and ok map.
