Typical Pogorelich performance, excellent. The _finale_ was sharp and clear, perfect octave unisons.

I‘ve listened to quite a few performances of this sonata now and so far, this reminds my favorite. Especially the Scherzo. I love the tempo and there‘s something about his touch in the right hand. The melody sounds incredibly beautiful.
Здесь ещё Плетнев пианист-виртуоз. Хотя, и прекрасный. Островский.

Astounding and other-worldly. The last moveent is such a knuckle-buster that it often sounds garbled, even when played by the best pianists. With Ivo, however, every note is distinct and remarkably clear. He truly is a consummate maestro of the pianoforte.

Pogorelich is a genius. I don't know why they couldn't make it to the finals of the Chopin competition. Such resonance! They brought out the hidden serene sadness in the major key-so moving! It's the best interpretation I've ever heard, bringing tears to my eyes.

The cameraman is a total no-talent! The "bird's eye" shots are a misunderstanding, and the constant close-ups on the pianist's face instead of the keyboard show that the cameraman has no idea about music. In addition, the film shows serious lack of synchronization between image and sound, and the image compression blurs the movement of the fingers. You can listen to this, but not watch it!!!

For the "Doppio movimento," he chooses the most stupid-sounding tempo I've ever heard, creating an utterly silly, cartoonish effect, no more dramatic than a Moszkowski etude. The contrast, then, between this tempo and his tortuously slow delivery of the following lyrical section is disproportionately gigantic, resulting in an overall architectural 'trainwreck' of sorts. Even when played "properly" (i.e. without exaggerated tempo differences), this movement is difficult to "hold together," but this ill-conceived interpretation is a musical disaster. While the rest of the sonata is played well enough, it's unfortunate that this all-important first movement ends up making a rather poor 'first impression' on the listener.

Like most pianists, he completely ruins the opening 8th-note material of the first scherzo. Everything is the same flat dynamic. Why don't they play the crescendi? To my knowledge, only Benjamin Grosvenor does that.
