My grandparents took out their false teeth, Put them in a hankie. Holding them in their hands. Put on red bandanas, And sang Red Sails in The Sunset. Looking longingly far out to sea. Fabulous. It was hilarious.

It's a shame that we have to go to nostalgia websites to hear voices and music like this. I can only hope that someday the music world returns to this kind of class.

To Britain, Vera Lynn was worth two divisions in the field.

She sings very deep (like the silver tenor in The Ink Spots, which is where I know the song best), as well as high (that 2:37 is effortless). Very nice version. Is the hairstyle an imiation of someone else of the period? Looks like a lot of work! (And thanks to those who've told us what film and year.)

I sent Dame Vera Lynn a short thank you note for entertaining my relatives in the British Forces during WW2 overseas in the UK. She sent me back a signed photo and personal hand written letter. I was amazed at that.

Nov 10, 2023 in Canada and tomorrow is Our Remembrance Day, l always used to play her CDs at this time but you tube has much more selection, I sing along with her and loved her voice and the many war songs she sang to all the veterans at thei r bases in Europe . Making a brighter time in their role to protect our world. We are grateful to them, and all entertainers like her. BLESS EM ALL, AN D WE ALL NEED TO ASK GOD TO PROTECT OUR PLANET AGAIN ,NOW. LOVE PAT,

Presumably the name of her character in the film. (I've not seen this film, but many singers made films in which they appeared as a singer - often playing the part of one who was just being discovered.)

She makes me tear up all the time. I have the 22 song wartime songs we play in the car and I have a lump in my throat the whole time. Love it. They should blast her out of loudspeakers all over England so the Brits can remember who they once were and maybe get it back, Just sayin.6
