Erina's weakness here is her perfectionism which means she doesn't have the characteristics in cooking yet. Here in Season 3 and 4, I just realized that Erina is the only chef who doesn't have any nickname in cooking other than God's Tongue, which unfortunately is just a nickname for an expert taster in the culinary world and only relies on her accuracy in perfecting her dishes through her super level sense of taste without having her Initials-Style in her cooking. Erina is very educated and a genius in culinary knowledge without missing anything, but with all this knowledge she has not been able to mix dishes according to her characteristics. That's why Erina, when fighting Momo and in the last match with Souma against Tsukasa and Rindou, Erina just had a cooking characteristic where she made dishes with a simple style and appearance but tasted heavenly.

Damn I just realized: Joichiro's cooking was so unique that it saved Erina from following the same path as her mom. Her mom, like Erina, was also born with the Goddess Tongue power. But years of tasting food eventually drove her into a state of deep internal crisis - so much that she not only abandoned her role of tasting, but also her infant daughter. The way Erina behaves like an excited child with Joichiro's dishes made me realize it was something her mother herself had never experienced during her formative years with food: fun and peace.

Can you fucking imagine how society would be like IF this was how decisions were made? Obviously this didn't have a decisive winner...BUT...if we negotiated and looked at each other's solutions like this and combined the best from both sides or all sides..... Unpopular opinion: I hated how Erina replaced Megumi as the one always by Soma’s side in the later seasons. Since the beginning Megumi was the one who was loyal to Soma and ALWAYS on his side. Heck, he risked being expelled for her when she was unfairly failed and was so angry about it too! Meanwhile Erina was just swanning about like the uppity snob she is, doing really awful things to other clubs and trying to get Soma to fail JUST because he didn’t worship the ground she walked on and cooked something delicious. Then suddenly her father comes back and suddenly she’s the poor victim who everyone worries about and cares for and poor Megumi is shoved to one side 😞

When my dad was nearing the end I listened to this song. He had terminal cancer and passed away the next day. Two months later I was visiting a friend & we were talking about my dad. I was standing outside by the fire with him telling him about this touching song & had him pull it up on his phone, but we got sidetracked and didn't play it. A couple hours later, sitting in the living room deep into a conversation about grief/death, there was a brief lull in the conversation & out of nowhere the song starts playing out of his bluetooth speaker. His phone wasn't even on his body, it was sitting on the coffee table right in front of us both & the speaker had not been used in hours & should've already turned off automatically. We gave each other the "just saw a ghost" look, listened to it, then called it a night. It was exactly what I needed, it was an almost paranormal moment that really brought comfort in my grieving process. I still come back to this song about once a year because it brings me back to the height of the grief, and in a weird way it feels comforting to feel that again. To fully move on would somehow be even sadder, so I am grateful to have this work of art to revisit.

I know that look. My daughter and I had it recently. Your comment is making me wonder if the recently departed are now using our phones to communicate and let us know they are there?!? Her boyfriend and father to her twin 7yo boys was killed in a freak rollover accident in the middle of nowhere. We went to the scene a few days after he was found (he was missing for 10 days). I took a few pictures and had my phone in my hand. It auto locks with a passcode. We were standing together and I noticed the screen light up on my phone. She and I looked at the same time to see my phone trying to video call him! Note that I had 1) not been using any app that had video calling options 2) I don't call people that way 3) the name displayed was his first and last name and his is in my contacts with first name only. 4) his phone was RINGING it did not immediately say he was unavailable or go to voicemail which it had been doing since the day he went missing. The kicker? the light from my phone lit up the ground as I ended the call (we were afraid he would answer! 😂) and illuminated an object on the ground she has been looking for. It was almost dark and had that not happened she wouldn't have seen it. Three people tried to replicate that call attempt and were unable to figure out even the app that tried to call. We were unable to even find an attempted call log for it in any of the history logs (which probably wouldn't have shown anyway but we were grasping at straws). Now I want to go back and set my phone down and see what happens!
