Firstly, congratulations on your well-deserved success. Too many people have an easy way through life and cannot appreciate success enough because they have never known hardship. Don't even get me started on the ones who commit academic misconduct yet are never punished and undeservedly receive their master's degrees, such as the individual I am describing below. I am a British born but fully Indian female who is approaching 30 years of age (unfortunately). Amongst many life traumas I have been subjected to (including disabled parents one of whom is now deceased, chronic illness, extreme bullying, racism, long term unemployment, antisocial behaviour, and much more) I was horrifically violated by staff and students of the University of Bolton also now known as The University of Greater Manchester. To tell you very briefly, Azeezat Armah, a Masters Visual Journalism and Storytelling Masters student ( I was studying BA (Hons) Education and Learning) preyed on and manipulated me into aggressively photographing my half naked, skin diseased, flat chested, unattractive, compromised body and then she completely ghosted me...whilst keeping the intimate images of me. She also racially abused me and made many inappropriate comments which she has still not been punished for. I have Prurigo Nodularis (amongst many debilitating yet medically neglected chronic illnesses) and all I was doing was trying to raise awareness of it and its impacts on mental health which was the theme of her 'collaboration'. She ruined my mental health never mind raising awareness of my struggle and she never even gave me any thanks nor acknowledgement for my participation or my written statement which she asked me to write for her. To my horror, this summer, as I (having temporarily suspended my studies at the time but with the view to return in September...which sadly wasn't to be) aw a was walking through the Senate House building to go and use the computer facilities, I saw a non consensual, exposing, half naked, flat-chest showing, skin diseased, glasses-free, flabby armed, unflattering image of none other than myself, in the display. I later found out they also used images of me online as well as within an art show to which I was not invited . If as a human you cannot see this as a violation then I don't know how to communicate. Understandably I was (and still am) incredibly angered and betrayed. When I raised concerns about my privacy, autonomy, confidentiality,modesty, and dignity and sent reasonably distressed emails, the university (so desperate to protect its own back...whilst literal skin is diseased,itchy, painful, unsightly and coming off my own) went to the extreme of having me arrested, sectioned and detained for weeks. They excluded me. Even though using an image of someone without their consent is unlawful (especially when a person is particularly vulnerable) the racist and revolting GM Police never helped because they favoured the other ethnicities of people , the perpetrators. They even had the audacity to further mock me by saying that because I am ugly it wasn't used for sexual gratification and therefore is not a crime. To this day, none of the perpetrators have faced any consequences. I am the victim and I am on a strike. Please, listen to, read about and understand my accounts and share my story until justice is done. Thank you

This is actually sad, it nearly became my experience as the source of what love was, marriage and companionship was based from the spirit of prophecy, which was more me living up to its ideals of love and not necessarily what I knew and understood love was. That led to unnecessarily long courtships that were not truly based on my inmost sense of love and attraction but was being in a relationship that is the ‘will of God’. I would be divorced as well had I not had the return to self and honoured it. It must be really hard to make such a serious and must be made decision when it doesn’t really fall within the fundamentalist category of divorce. It must have been hard. There has to be more talk about the nuances, complexities and the grey areas. I wish you more healing and restoration, wishing to the same to your ex as well.

New subscriber. Got here through the KZbin blackhole 😅 but glad I did. As a 31 year old I have been so disappointed in myself because I am not where I imagined myself to be at this age. It’s really devastating and I had to mourn the loss of that life. However the sooner you let go of that the better for your mental health and open up yourself to this alternative life. It’s scary but necessary. Im consciously killing the old me and falling in love with this new me

Hey @nomhlekhabokubheka812 Welcome to the club, grab a seat and get in the back, you’re family now. And I resonate with what you said, sometimes our delayed desires hold us hostage. And letting go of what should’ve been is difficult but the 30’s for me has been about flexibility and realignment. So I hear you sis 🤍

B, this hits so hard. I honestly believe that beyond differences in personality, trauma and work environment, such spaces show the orientation of people towards others. If you don't believe colleagues are invested, hard working and always doing their best, then you will treat them as such. To imagine that people walk around with such intense levels of distrust and honestly borderline disdain for fellow humanity. Cruelty is also a real thing. Some people hide that behind more palatable tropes such as discipline and guidance. On a separate note, I will agree that that experience taught you a lot. But definitely disagree that you are here because of it. Who's to say you wouldn't be further had it been a kinder environment.
@Nou_rish

The last paragraph shook me in my very core. Been thinking about this for a while It’s crazy but as traumatic as the toxic productivity was, I choose to believe it was ultimately used for my good. I developed a terrible outlook and bad stress coping mechanisms, but I always gained some form of relentless self motivation and clarity on my purpose. Had the science community been comfortable and kind lol I might’ve never had the motivation to leave. I’m still not of the mind that we have to endure trauma to Learn but I do appreciate the experience. Also, now I know how to treat those who work under me.
