Alright so, as someone who has finagled with Gihren's Greed before (Specifically the Menace of Axis V version for the PSP, the one being translated) you are right on a few things and not right on others: 1st, you are correct that Gihren's Greed is the ultimate what-if machine...Garma Living or dying is one of the first decisions in that game and results in massively different bonuses or malices depending on your playthrough of those routes. This is further intermixed with the fact that Gihren's Greed often contains EVERYTHING associated with the Gundam projects, meaning in the one year war you can finagle with Ginius' Astolus project which if you play your cards right results in you dropping the thing on Jaburo like he wanted in 08th MS team OVAs as well as the then just released IGLOO short series. Fundamentally though, these decisions are minor in comparison to ones relating to the main storyline which given you play as Revil, Gihren himself (thus the title), Blex, Haman, and after completing a run which each nation Char's Neo-Zeon during the events of Char's Counterattack include trying to not fucking die as they did. 2nd. Gihren's greed does have Civil Wars, orthodox Zeon and New Life Zeon being an example of this which are made if you take stupid choices by Gihren in the One Year War...and Glemmy's Neo Zeon if you fuck around with him too much so that tacks with possibilities you mentioned. Though in the case of Char being supposedly blown to smitheries testing Psycomu stuff, that stuff is NEVER mentioned and seems to be new for the show. Cool addition though, and something that would be a thing if a more modern Gihren's Greed game is made (again, the newest game in the series is a PSP game from 06-07, IGLOO was new at the time) 3rd, we actually DO know a lot about the Menace of Axis V (which is widely viewed as the best one, and the one most worthy of being updated since it includes everything from One Year War, to Char's Counterattack units) if you are willing do jump down the rabbit hole that is the fandom wiki for it: girensgreed.fandom.com/wiki/Giren%27s_Greed_Wiki It goes without saying, that if you do play those games its been translated enough that most players wont suffer playing it, though it might result in several areas where you need to consult the event chain since things happen successively...not randomly like other strategy games. Do note this is also a strategy game, and one which on higher difficulty levels openly cheats you out of money while giving hidden buffs to the enemies. Its also not fully perfect in other ways, like the fact that Newtypes require level ups that are never explained in game and that the game has certain choices that if you don't know about beforehand you WILL fall into traps that WILL kill you like the Lawfulness mechanic which is a rather crude and pointless mechanic unless you play as the Titans, in which case its the most important mechanic in the world... TLDR: PLS play Gihren's greed, the system to play it is rather easy if you can unpack a file and use a PSP emulator and there is literally only three playthroughs of it on youtube and the Axis campaign with Haman-sama was never completed.

This film captured my heart with its integrity and deep respect for Tolkien's universe. It’s clear that everyone involved-the writers, directors, and cast-genuinely cared about this project, and their effort shines through. Helm Hammerhand and his sons are portrayed as fully fleshed-out characters, complete with flaws and strengths, making them compelling and relatable. Here herself reminds me of Éowyn, and while powerful, she’s no more overpowered than someone like Aragorn or other iconic Tolkien heroes. The story expands on the history of Helm's Deep beautifully, while also introducing us to fascinating interpretations of Tolkien’s creatures and lore, including the Eagles, the Mûmakil, and the Watcher in the Water. The music is absolutely stellar, evoking the grandeur of Howard Shore’s compositions from Peter Jackson's films, and the animation-reminiscent of Attack on Titan-was visually striking and engaging throughout. As someone who has been a Tolkien fan for over 40 years, having first read The Fellowship of the Ring at 15, I find much of the criticism disheartening. Many seem fixated on political grievances, deriding the film for featuring a female protagonist and tossing around terms like "Mary Sue" or "girl boss" without substance. Worse yet, a large portion of this backlash appears to come from people who haven’t even watched the film. Complaints about the film being “unnecessary” are equally flimsy. If Rogue One, a beloved Star Wars film, could spring from a single line in A New Hope, why can’t we have an equally enriching exploration of Helm Hammerhand’s story? And as for criticisms about the runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes-it’s baffling, considering how many of us happily binge 8 to 10 hours of a streaming series in one sitting.

My wildest speculation on a Hideaki Anno move and cameos is that the Char clone of the series will stay masked all the way through, and in the final battle will bust out a Psycho Zaku, shout "This Zaku is not for show!", and then die without ever confirming if he was Amuro, the Real Char, or anyone.

Assuming Char's theft of the Gundam did not result in damage to the colony and its evacuation, I think Amuro would have just continued to live a bored, unambitious existence. At best, he's living an ordinary life as Fraw's husband, making a living off his inventions, and stayed out of any direct role in the war. His Newtype abilities never manifested in earnest. At worst, he's one of innumerable forgotten casualties of the war. Here's a fun butterfly effect: if I'm right, and Amuro never becomes a pilot, a Newtype ace, the Federation wouldn't have had a reason to develop the NT-1 Alex, right? That was entirely for Amuro. So... what I'm saying is - maybe Bernie and Cyclops Team are okay in this timeline?

Disagree regarding alternate UC timelines: the Zeta New Translation trilogy diverges wildly from the source material - its ending cannot be reconciled with ZZ, and quite possibly CCA for that matter.

Screw the haters is a bit harsh. The haters booing a film that doesn’t have a bazillion dollar budget of stupid cgi explosions? Sure. The legit criticism of this film is that the story told her has very little to do from Tolkien’s work. King hammerhead is probably the only actual character from the book. This whole story is barely a footnote. The bloating of the 5 pages like the hobbit trilogy. Hera? A Greek goddess? No. None of that is found in Tolkien’s Celtic world. While the story as is, not to bad. Faithful to Tolkien? Not really. Amazon RoP is absolute garbage and this barely heals the wounds. Cash grab politics by WB to not lose their rights to Amazon

There's way too many things wrong with WotR to say it was a good story. People can like it, fine, but it's not good. It breaks a ton of LotR canon, which is immensely disrespectful, but it also has really boring and predictable characters and falls apart after the first act. Which is coincidentally the same time Helm Hammerhand leaves the story. I also don't know why the writers used a Greek name in an Angle-Saxon themed setting. But that's minor compared to the other issues. As for "Woke", that term also includes Intersectional Feminism under its umbrella, which this movie has as its foundational premise. I care a lot less if a project is "Woke" so much as if it is good. Which rarely go together in the first place anyways, so I don't usually have to worry about that overlapping.

I really liked the idea of an animated Lord of the Rings movie. I have no problem with focusing the story on a non-named character from LotR canon. (If I remember correctly, Tolkien's story fragment named _two_ characters, so a movie with 20 to 30 characters will HAVE to invent new people.) But the problem is the movies' main character is a Mary-Sue. She is perfect with no character flaws. What personal growth took place for her? None. She was awesome at the start, and awesome at the end. If only the other characters realized how good she was all along. The story felt like fan-fiction, rather than something that a professional would create. Helm Hammerhand did indeed freeze to death while raiding the besiegers. But having him die a couple meters from the gate was dumb. Why no archers supporting him? Why didn't they throw a rope down to him, and haul him up to safety? Didn't the writers _think_ about these things? The film was beautiful. I just wish it was better written. 2/5 stars. Warm regards, Rick.

I'd be hyped to see young Gandalf too, although I don't think for a being of thousands of years old, he won't change a lot a few centuries before we got to see him. Also, my biggest complaint about the film is just how shallow they wrote Wulf's character.

Naming an OC waifu after a Greek goddess for an otherwise Angle-Saxon inspired Old English themed fantasy faction doesn't feel right. And I think the way they killed off Helm is dumb (spoiler) The whole time I keep thinking why is nobody in the keep does anything to help their king? He's right outside the gate, are there no archers on the wall? Nobody try to get the gate open to get the dude in? No nothing? At least if he made his last stand further away from the gate it would make more sense.

I am a big LotR fan, as well as a huge fan on old-school 80s and 90s anime. I loved the Ralph Bakshi movie as a kid and really wish he had been given finding for the second part of it. Actually, nearly all my Roleplaying friends are big anime fans, as well as big Tolkien fans. There is a huge crossover between those groups. My gripe with this movie is that they completely changed the story, for a feminist agenda. Or, as you put it "to make a warrior princess movie". They push to the background the character who steps up to become the main hero in the very short synopsis that Tolkien gave us, Frealaf Hildeson, instead taking a nameless character who was present but did nothing and turning her into the principle character. When Peter Jackson made The Fellowship of the Rings fans objected to Arwen taking Glorfindel's place and being presented as an action character. Perhaps due to the influence of Phillipa Boyens thinking that Arwen needs to do more, they had already been filming the Siege of Helms Deep, with Arwen leading the elven re-enforcements. Jackson realised that they needed to stay true to the spirit of Tolkien, or lose the fans. They replaced Arwen with Haldir and fans loved the movie. The elves being present was an aberration, but it didn't change the way any of the main characters was presented. They respected the fans and the spirit of the lore. This film does the opposite. It takes a nameless female character mentioned and makes her the hero of everything. It made the same mistake as Black Panther 2. Market something under the name of a known hero, but make it about a female hero who is "better" but has done worse in subverting established lore in order to do so. The character design for Hera clashes with everything else. Her name doesn't fit the Anglo-Saxon theme of Rohan naming. Her costume looks like it came out of Record of the Lodoss War. Nothing about her fits to Tolkien. Despite this, it could have been accepted by fans. She has potential to be an interesting character, despite all this, but isn't given the complexity or depth needed to make her feel like a valuable edition to the film. Nausicaa and San were very impressive, yet flawed characters. They made mistakes. Hera just comes across as a poorly written Mary Sue. As a fantasy anime, I still think it is a great, if overly slow film. As an adaptation of Tolkien, it is a failure.

The Rankin Bass Return of the King is the one the "where there's a whip" song comes from. And contrary to what you might think, they didn't choose to do a follow up to the Bakshi movie. They pitched a movie and chose to adapt only part of the RotK novel. 9:44 That makes zero sense as a criticism of the film and Hera. She doesn't even get to choose before her father calls Frecca outside and sets the stage for the war to come. It wasn't rotoscoped animation. Motion capture was used to make a 3D animation, but Kamiyama didn't want to use rotoscoping and instead used it the 3D as a reference for the 2D animators. I like the movie but have some criticisms myself. There are some weird POV shots (case in point the scene circling Hera while blowing the horn at the mumak), lines lifted from the trilogy, and the whole shieldmaiden thing. They're woman who took up arms to fight after their men died, somehow are honored for that with a place and banner at the king's council, are treated as an old tradition yet one is alive. It just creates more questions than answers given what we're told about them. This movie is leagues above Rings of Power at least. It tweaks some events but largely follows what Tolkien wrote. Which is more than I could say about RoP.

Just some of my thoughts... The MC can be a woman all day. That is not the issue. I think most people have a hard time articulating what and how they actually feel about something. The issue is, that she is a dull archetype of what activists deem an ideal woman nowadays in America. She is presented as an infallible female character who can do no wrong, and who is portrayed as "strong and bold" purely because of her gender, and not because of any actual achievements that we as the audience are privy to experience or learn about. Any action she takes is the "correct one", any opinion she has is the "correct one" - there is no doubt or fear, and therefore there is no complexity or nuance, and therefore... she is not a character. Of course it doesn't help that she didn't exist in the source material to begin with. That just makes it low hanging fruit to clown on. Her rejecting the crown is perfectly on par with this narrative. The crown represents a male dominated role of leadership. I'm not that convinced by these assessments. They essentially boils down to how much "cool stuff" the movie has, and ignores the meat of what makes a character good, in other words, what makes a movie good. I don't find the hate unfounded at all, just the way it is being channeled. Also, i personally don't like the animation. I don't know what it is with western animated projects not utilizing their frame count at all. They will do 30+ frames with nothing at all happening, when in reality you can animate SO much movement and expression with just 30 frames. So this might just boil down to lazy storyboarding, idk. Castlevania does the same thing. It will have a character do basic movement but will do it on a ton of frames at times, but they're spread out over way too much time, and so it ends up looking rigid and robotic as sh!t. But tbf, that's the least of my complaints about Castlevania.That show is absolute cheeks. Sorry to hear you got fired though, that's rough. Hope you'll find some Christmas cheer before the holidays are over.

Accusing anime of being woke is weird. Anime creators don't care about this stuff, for better or worse. The most likely reason the protagonist is a woman is simply because the writers thought it would make an interesting story. Also redheads are hot. Now, I'll reserve my opinion for when I can actually see the movie, because off course the closest cinema doing it is in France... I'll wait for streaming...

I replayed JWE1 the last year(?) and i had fun at first and it was engaging! (What really drives me into a game) but with the obligatory missions getting harder, ridiculous and senseless, it became, unfun (becoz MOST LIKELY said missions were coded to be very hard) and I was absolutely disappointed with JWE2 (I won’t be dwelling into details), Deep Rock Galactic was there for me after the total disappointment that was JWE2 (I have regrets, really!!).
