Vincent please, we need a nib comparison video: Scribo vs vintage Omas vs modern Omas, you can do it! This would be great because Scribo nibs are the heir of vintage Omas (made by the same machine). Also you mentioned some other pens, as far as Pilot goes a closer comparison would be 743 (FA) or 912 (FA), not the 823 (FA nib not a standard option). 743 and 823 are basically the same pen but filling systems are different (converter vs vac). Also that Scribo ink looks lovely!
@fountainpentherapy2 сағат бұрын
That’s a great idea. I’m presently working on a flex showdown video but the OS comparison may be very interesting for the future.

Hi Vincenzo! Your La Dotta is certainly a beautiful pen! That resin is amazing! My favorite design of the Scribo pens is the Piuma. I just like the looks of that one a little better, and it is slightly less expensive than the larger ones. Will be interesting to see your report on all the grail pens at the end of the year. Thanks for sharing the amazing Scribo!

Vincenzo, first of all, congratulations on acquiring this Scribo model. Your video did the Scribo justice. Although my upper price limit is definitely 350 euros, this Scribo made my principle waver for a moment. Not many FP's can present their beauty and value in a video or photo. The La Dotta al Zigant can, which certainly has something to do with your great presentation.

That is a truly gorgeous pen. The resin somewhat resembles the resin in a special edition Esterbrook/Ferris Wheel Press collaboration pen; the Nebulous Plume; that was inspired by President John Kennedy's speech about " we will go to the moon, and do the other things, not because it is easy but because it is hard." Diamondcast resin is a creation of McKenzie Penworks and has been patented by him.

Thank you for your review and demonstration of this pen and nib. It is clear that I would not be a user of the Ultra Flex from FPR. I would say that my preference would be for a soft nib, one that provides character to my writing. The Pilot Soft nibs, the Jowo Elastic nibs and the Pelikan Souveran nibs, especially the M1000 would be for me. The Scribo nib would fit in the Soft nib category. As for price, the Pilot and Leonardo Momento Zero Grande is in my price range.

I respect your taste and can understand it however I must tell you that for the price the FPR nibs are fabulous

For 600-700 you can find a Pilot Custom Urushi. If you like the softness of this Scribo but able to write everyday, the custom Urushi is the best by far.
@fountainpentherapyСағат бұрын
You speak of soft nib, but I really wonder if the pilot custom Arushi is softer than this one. I have my doubts but I can assure you that both the 845 and the big urushi are on my list.

I love your FPT content! Thank you for sharing all the knowledge and cool trips. But, the music has to go, please dude, spare us the dramatic tunes and background droning sounds are, to this viewer, stressing. . You have a fine speaking voice, that’s enough. The opening could be 75% shorter as well. Pretty cheeky I know considering it’s free but I want to continue watching your show. Auf wiedersehen, ciao, bye for now!

Vincenzo, I'm pretty sure that what you called the "Ottantotto classic" is really the Aurora Style E17 and not the 88 at all. It's part of Aurora's "Young" range. The actual smaller sized modern 88 has a completely different grip section and the cap has an ogival shape. The 88P is completely discontinued. It is not made or sold anymore. They had some that they assembled from leftover parts, but yours does not look anything like those. Yours appears to be to original version. The 88 you have with the screw cap is a modern 88. All the 88 with the open nib like that are the modern model. The piston version has a screw cap. The modern 88 piston version and Optima share most parts except the cap top and barrel end. The Magellano is a modern Aurora pen. It appears to be still available. The engraving on the Optima pens "Fabbrica Italiana Penne a Serbatoio Aurora" does not refer to the piston mechanism at all. It was in fact the original name of Aurora when it was founded. The name even appears on vintage Auroras that are eyedropper filled. I collect vintage and modern Auroras, so I can often identify them easily, but I refer to my reference materials to make sure I have the right identification. You should see if you can get a meeting with them sometime when you go to Italy again. They are one of my favorite makers in Italy

Thank you very much for the recap. I do look forward to it every week. I just want to let your viewers know that while Santini makes beautiful pens and I love the first one that I bought from them, you can only get them from their site in Italy. They are not being sold through retailers in US or anywhere. If you have problems with your pen, it's very difficult to make customer support understand what's wrong. My second purchase from Santini unfortunately did not go well. While they did respond to my emails, but because of the communication problems, they didn't understand what's the wrong with the pen. Very frustrating. For a $400 pen, it's pretty much useless now. Buyer beware.
@fountainpentherapyСағат бұрын
Sorry to hear about the bad experience. I’ve only had to purchase one pen from them and I also asked for an additional nib in subsequent correspondence and they cooperated and collaborated really nicely. However, these things happen and I just hope that the price was worth all the effort.

I can read between the lines, but with my interview with Nino, he kind of hinted that he’s working on a major in-house nib project hopefully that will come to fruition
@howardcunix86775 күн бұрын
Your Delta Pens.....If they were mine and I experienced the same as you, I would expel the ink, flush thoroughly with cool water, or before that, soak ink and feeder a few hours in a solution of water and one drop of clear, liquid soap and then flush w/ water, dry, and load pens with Waterman..black or blue, or blue-black. That should resolve the problem. If not, try Aurora blue or black. If the aforementioned does not work, then before I would conclude the issue is the nib and/or feeder, I would be certain that my paper used is absolutely fountain pen friendly.
@fountainpentherapyСағат бұрын
That’s that’s exactly what happened. I believe I mentioned in this video that I washed everything out and the results proved that there was nothing wrong with the nib or feed.

I have the mini Opus 88 and I inadvertently pulled the sealing rod all the way back and pulled off the gasket that seals the ink in the barrel from the feed. My fault 😢. I do have the Demonstrator pen that I use a lot and am contemplating getting the Harmony model which is very attractive. Sorry to see yours fell apart. I had a similar experience with the Narwhal Nautilus. I was attempting to fill the barrel and twisted the end cap and the socket that has the threads to close the end cap came out of the barrel. It is over 2 years old so not under warranty. I don't know if it can be repaired. As far as new pens, I did pick up the Faber-Castell Hexo and was very surprised how smooth their steel nib wrote. The price is very reasonable. If you do not have one, you should consider it. It is very light (anodized aluminum cap and barrel).

Definitely see if Opus will do something about your mini. I've got 4 of them, various designs and various nibs, and I think they're just fantastic. I haven't had any troubles with the pen or the knob, other than sometimes running out of ink because I forgot to open it up. They don't seem all that fragile to me, so maybe yours was a rare dud.

Thank you for the review, Vincenzo. I do not own an Aurora and perhaps would not purchase one as it may not provide the experience I would expect from the nib. Excellent presentation.

I do not want to leave everyone with a bad impression of Aurora with that very minor tuning the pen as quickly become a go to pen for me. My only visitation was to fiddle with that nib more than I had to and allow a Meister to take care of the rest.

Nice review Vincenzo. I have an Aurora Ambienti Tundra which also has a scratchy nib in one direction. A stunningly beautiful pen but very disappointing writer especially for such an expensive pen. I more recently bought an Aurora Volterra from Stilograph Corsani and Stefano kindly tested the nib for me before despatching the pen. It's a beautiful pen and a beautiful writer.

Yeah, I don’t want to minimise the beauty of that pen. I think the nib issue is minor and can quickly be rectified my own fine-tuning did the job for now and a nib Meister can do the rest.

I am not sure if you reviewed Majohn P139 before. So I am not saying you have double standards. But I find most youtubers will say p139 is a copycat.. but they never say anything about this Italian pen and Heminway. It looks double standards to me, and this is not good really.
