Love my HS Dark Age. Similar but also very different to the Bronze Age, and to be honest is overlooked by many reviewers out there. The dark almost black nib is really eye catching. Has a more subtle look than the Bronze Age, but I agree with everything you say about your pen, it applies to the Dark Age just as much. Great video, thank you.

Hi Vincenzo! Thanks for showing us your new grail pen! This is a pen that kind of fascinates me. Thanks for letting us know the power filler parts are titanium. That adds value to the pen, in my opinion. Thanks for showing that nice Aurora Turquoise ink, as well! The Visconti spring clips are very nice. Probably my favorite spring clip. Mine is on the Mythos Mirage Apollo, but it IS nice.

Your words recalled to mind something I had expressed a while back to someone - our emotional connection with our favorite pen(s) is what it all comes down to, the memories, the sacrifices, the link to craftsmanship - the whole thing. Such a delight to see you enjoying your pens so much. Congratulations.

As a collector, I think the most fascinating part of buying a pen is being able to do so in certain very special circumstances. My montblanc 149, which i for a long time truly believed it was the most overrated pen in the world, suddenly took on a different and special place in my collection when it was gifted to me by my dear wife.

5:50 ... Love the _History Lesson_ on the fountain pens....Keep it up , well done...Bravo !! *Visconte* = meaning ; a nobleman next in rank below an earl (A man of high social rank). Italian meaning = a Title of Rank *Homo Sapien* = Homo is the Latin word for 'human' or 'man' and sapiens is derived from a Latin word that means 'wise' or 'astute'. *_WISE HUMAN_* *Bronze Age* = a prehistoric period that followed the Stone Age and preceded the Iron Age, when certain weapons and tools came to be made of bronze rather than stone. A Time from around 2,000BC to 700BC when people used bronze. In the Bronze Age, stone was gradually replaced by bronze. Bronze was made by melting tin and copper, and mixing them together.

Grail pens are very personal. I've had a Visconti Lava Bronze Age with an M nib for almost a year now and there's something that doesn't quite convince me. It writes well, it's warm to the touch, it's beautiful, but it's not in my top three favorite pens : Pelikan M 800, Pilot Custom 743 and Waterman Carène. The beauty of this hobby is that everyone experiences the feeling of writing with a particular model in different ways. And that's the way I think it should be. You, Vincenzo, enjoy your Homo Sapiens and tell us your impressions of it in a year, for example, to see if they have changed. 😊

Gracias por tu vídeo. Enhorabuena por la compra. Decidí comprar uno viéndote lo feliz que estabas en tu anterior vídeo. El mí me llego ayer. I feel like I am biased with Visconti and Aurora as well being Sicilian LOL I've heard people having bad luck with Visconti though, I however have not had any bad luck with nibs or materials. I have a 23k Palladium dreamtouch nib on my Homo Sapiens Bronze age and it's divine. I just found a brand new Visconti Opera Gold in red and gold for 128 dollars with tax and shipping!!! It's got the same nib as the Mythos but it's a double reservoir power filler! I love those pens. Also what green ink do you have in your Pelikan M1000?

Very nice pen! Can't you close the tines a tad on the Pelikan and make it write a little drier?
@williamcatalano1762
@williamcatalano1762 4 ай бұрын
The problem with the Pelikan is how soft the nib is even with the softest pressure. You can do it and even make the line width reduced and it will help. I own an M1000 in a fine nib and it's almost still too wet to write with every day. I should of gotten an extra fine and even then I don't know if I could use to every day. It's more of a mess around pen, Signature writing pen, or super quick notes. It's not a pen you write in a journal with every day. I love it and adore it to death though and I'm glad I own it. It's a whole different experience.

@Shak-MD
@Shak-MD 4 ай бұрын
I like the idea. Unfortunately, with how soft the nib is, it will be right back where it is now. Any amount of pressure puts the tines out of sorts over short time. The best nib on M1k, I find, is the Fine nib, lasts the longest before widening. EFs are not that good.

@@Shak-MD It just depends on what each person is looking for. I only need pens for writing letters and stuff. I thought about using them for notetaking, but I decided to stick with my pencils. I know this is not a comment on the pen but out of those three cities, which one would you recommend the most for a short stay as a tourist and not necessarily for fountain pen tourism? 😂 I would love to go to Rome, but those endless crowds look a bit too much. Is Florence or Naples better? Thanks. Edit: I will add a comment about the pen after all. I like the Homo Sapiens lineup but if I even decided to go for a high end Visconti, that Medici Briarwood that the lady in Florence was pushing, that is my Grail Visconti I'd say.
@fountainpentherapy

I love all three cities. I was born close to Naples lived in Rome and often travel to Florence. However, if I have to choose one of the three, I would definitely choose Rome. If you stay in the historical centre of Rome, You cannot go wrong on every street corner. There is some site to explore. The historical sites, museums fountains, Piazza, etc., etc. to me it is and will always be the most beautiful city in the world.

In principle, I really don't recommend the Visconti Homo Sapiens, but somehow I have four. Visconti is generally quite lacking in fit and finishing compared to other makers such as Opus 88, Aurora, or Pilot. Things are finished fairly roughly. All of my Viscontis have some significant machining marks because they don't finish them that well. The vac filler on the double-reservoir fillers made of resin is rougher feeling because the plunger seal is rubbing against the fairly roughly finished barrel. The TWSBI Vac700R and Pilot Custom 823 run silky smooth because the barrels have very smooth finishing inside. On the lava oversize Homo Sapiens, the single reservoir power filler actually does not hold that much ink. It's comparable and sometimes less than a regular piston filler. The double reservoir Homo Sapiens hold a lot more ink. On all my four Homo Sapiens Oversize, some purchased in Italy and some purchased in the states, none of them wrote out of the box at all. It was really horrible. They all required professional services to tune them properly. This said, why four? Somehow the Homo Sapiens has captured my heart. I absolutely love the capping system. Super convenient. The nibs, now fully adjusted and tuned write like a dream. They are now some of my best writing pens. The in house nibs have some softness to them that really makes them feel amazing once they are properly tuned. While the Lava models are interesting, I went for resin models instead because of the larger ink capacity and ability to see my ink level. You also don't need to unscrew the end of the pen when writing like the Pilot Custom or TWSBI Vac700R because the small chamber holds enough ink for quite a few pages of writing, even with a juicy italic nib. It functions like the Pelikan Level where you only open the valve when the front chamber is empty, fill the front chamber, and close the valve. The pen is not perfect, but overall, it's a favorite

Great video Vincenzo. I watched it end to end. I love your passion. Visconti is truly special pen. I have the Crystal Dream in Medium. It is very smooth. I will take it to one of the nibsters in Orlando pen show and get it down to an EEF. I appreciate that you brought the roughness in the grip section. It has been a sore spot for me, that Visconti may or may not do something about, seeing how few people it bothers. As for comparison with the other two. I think your M1000 may have wider gaps than normal, that can happen with use, especially with heavier hands. Unfortunately, I find this to be a down side of the M1000s soft nibs. I have even seen it advertised as a "semi flex" nib, which it is not. It is very very juicy :) The 149....... Your 149 needs help. Of my ~80 149s, none do this. A few did initially, but I have worked them to my liking. I think if you take it to a nib person in Scriptus, you may see it come to life. I also find that any pen can mis-behave given the right [wrong] ink. I hope to see your thoughts on the Mag 600 which you so smoothly sneak in this video :) :D Cheers from the US of A.
