Thank you I been preaching this. Everybody drooling over the Pyxis when the z cam e2f6 has everything the Pyxis has and have better rolling shutter and it have Sony level low light that don’t get talked about out enough you can actually get one for $2000 and in my opinion the image is better than the Pyxis and the OG Komodo. I’m buying the z cam in a few weeks

One thing NO ONE talks about the customer service of the two brands. In France, the rental companies don't want to buy Blackmagic anymore because they customer service is SHIT. And the cameras fail very easily (especially the sensors). I own several zcam for years it is indestructible... But indeed... I prefered the colors, the skintones I had with my URSA Mini G2 4.6k than my Zcam F6 or S6... But the Ursa stopped working just after the warranty and they couln't repair it... Don't forget guys that Zcam was used on Mission Impossible 7 on a LOT of shots and you can see almost no difference with Arri footage if you are good with the exposure on the set.
@ThomasTulakАй бұрын
that's very true, from experience I know that Blackmagic will no longer support outdated products. Once they release a new version of a product they won't fix issues with the old versions. With company X we had a blackmagic multi-cam video switcher and it broke. blackmagic customer service told us that since a new version of that switcher had been released they couldn't fix the one we had. we ended up having to by a whole new switcher.
@apentice001Ай бұрын
@@ThomasTulak Yeah they suck and their cameras are not reliable (the bodies, the sensors, other components ), that is why no one want them in the cine industry or for commercial... It's too bad because they have fantastic colors... But I prefer to work my color-grading in post-production rather than to have to deal with them. They have a bad reputation when you have a problem and with their cameras, if you work a lot with it, you will have troubles unfortunately... Even their Blackmagic Video Assist Recorder, everytime I recorded with it externally, it frooze during the record session, it is totally unusable. I will never record externally again. It broke my heart because theyr BRAW was very convenient... But straight out of the camera their colors are better than zcam and even red, no question about that for me. It's even very easy to transform the log files to match Arri footages. But other things are more important to me.... I need to trust my gear, to trust the company etc. The only perfect product with Blackmagic is... DAVINCI RESOLVE and that's it :)

I grew up on the Hammer films, but Count Yorga had a great ending, Have you seen it? I really enjoyed a few recent movies like "Kiss of the Damned", Fright Night 2, the original is good but the remake is better, except for the ending. New films coming out look promising, like Bloodsucker (German or Swedish?) and Swap (looks like some Only Fans made a Vampire movie)

I want to do what you did and achieved. I've always wanted to make a film, and recently, i've resolved myself to finally accomplishing this dream even if it's late into my life. Right now, I'm trying to raise the money for the budget. I'm a tad bit illiterate as to how and what is needed to make a movie though. Can you kindly tell me what are the most neccessary equipments i should acquire? Like a camera and boom mic for example, of course, but besides those, what else? Can you also reccommend which type or brand of equipment, if you have a preference or you know which is best or at least very good? Thank you very much! This video is inspirational, by the way, i might add. 🙂
@ThomasTulak7 ай бұрын
Thank you for that! I'm happy to have inspired you! ...If you're set on having your movie be the first thing you make, then it might serve the movie better to use your budget to hire a cinematographer who has the gear, and has a better understanding of how to do everything, who can guide you through it all. However, if you're willing to put in the time, I always think it's better to learn the necessary skills to do it, yourself. In which case I'd recommend getting what ever gear you can get your hands on to start practicing by making some smaller projects like KZbin skits or short films, things like that. Every project you produce you'll learn more and more and get better and better. It doesn't necessarily have to take 10+ years for you like it did for me, but if you start small and work your way up then you'll know when you're ready for the big projects. That said, I could recommend specific brands for things, that will cost various amounts, sure, but more importantly, the best camera to use is what ever you can get your hands on. in 2011 I made a short film for a 48 hour filmmaking competition. I used a $100 Sony "Webbie" handicam, with all auto settings, and nothing else, not even a mic. it was about as entry level camera as you can get... I won 1st place in that competition, and used the prize money to buy my first Canon DSLR camera, that I shot things on every week for a few years till I could buy a nicer camera... by then, after gaining the experience, I had a much better idea of what I needed to get, because I had been doing it and learned first hand. So the best advice I can give is, grab what ever camera you can get your hands on, and just start making things, and you'll figure it out as you go!

@@ThomasTulak thanks! That's a great place to start. 😄 I might even do both. If i can. I guess i'll also search the internet for tutorials on many aspects of filmmaking. @@OYABUNxix in regards to it being too late, it’s never too late. Alan Rickman was in his late 40’s when he got his first acting role in Die Hard. There’s no such thing as too late, and late is better than never. You can ask people to work for you for free if in turn you work for them when they have a project. Build a favor based team. That’s what I did. I have a team and we are all there to help each other on each other’s projects. You pay each other in favors instead of money. Just make sure you always feed well anyone who’s on your set! Haha And yes, you can learn anything you need on KZbin. I also grew up before the internet. And, they know how to cook and feed for a town or two. 😂 I didn't mean it's too late for me. I too, live by that belief that it's never too late. It's nice to talk to a fellow cinema lover who appreciates trivia like that also, by the way. I meant, i'm getting old. 😅 I didn't even have a camcorder growing up. Art was not fostered in my family. I pursued it on my own. The first and only camera i ever bought was a disposable one. 😂 i was like 9 years old. By the time i was in college and had enough money, that's when i bought painting materials, canvasses and brushes and paints, to try my hand at oil painting. I need to buy editing and sound mixing equipment too, i reckon. 🤔 I'll try that. An economy of favors among like minded individuals. 🙂 Despite it feeling wrong in my gut and heart not to compensate and reward the hard work of others. 😅 Thanks Tom! It's apt that your name means "Push" in some languages. Because, you were that last push i needed to solidify and reinforce my resolve. 👍

How would you recommend finding a community of filmmakers while living in an area that has no interest in filmmaking, no facebook groups, no “clubs”, nothing. I can’t even get work friends or family to help.
@ThomasTulak7 ай бұрын
Where do you live that there aren't any filmmakers near you? Perhaps there are and you don't know? Perhaps there are other filmmakers in your area asking the same question. Perhaps you could try starting a filmmaking group, and put flyers in community places in the hopes of maybe finding someone who shares your interests, but doesn't know how to find anyone to work with. If you truly are in a place where there are absolutely no other filmmakers, then perhaps the thing to do is practice on your own to build your skills, and when you are confident in your abilities due to experience, then invest in yourself, take the leap, believe in your dreams, and move to somewhere where you can find people to work with... It won't be an easy decision to move, but if its truly in your blood then you have to stop at nothing to make it happen.

I see a lot of people a bit peeved about no full size XLRs. Is there a real difference between mini XLR and full size? I've been using the Pocket 4K for years and it's never really been an issue to hook up my Sennheiser using the mini and the quality sounds fine. To me it's the same thing. A cable in your camera. The 3.5 port could be used to get audio from lavs like the Rode Wireless Go system. As someone that does occasionally do run and gun, audio is pretty much taken care of. Of course, on bigger shoots I hire a sound person.

yeah but apart from the "specs", what comes out of the ZCams, just sucks. If it was really good, with a good ecosystem and everything that comes with it, it would be more popular. But it isn't. Low light is not a good metric. Image quality and usability is. It's not a bad camera by all means. It just doesn't have what it takes IMHO Obviosuly, pick the camera that works for you.
@ThomasTulak7 ай бұрын
See, that has not been my experience at all. As I said in the video, I've been using the Zcam in a professional setting with Company-X for the past 2 years, and I have been consistently impressed with it's footage. I wouldn't say it sucks at all, from my hands on experience I'd say it easily rivals the big boys. As far as ecosystem, I don't think it needs it. As far as I know, BMD is the only camera company that has their own post production software, and the professional environment doesn't even use it. But you can shoot with the Zcam, as with any other camera, and use its footage with any NLE... of course low light, by itself, is not a good metric. NO spec, by itself is. But I've been praising so many things, including the image quality and usability, which I find to fantastic... so I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with you.
