this makes alot of sense. i have watched a lot of videos trying to help with mid/high kicks and still struggled, and the only think i could think of was flexibility so been working splits and stretches so much. yes they have helped but still lack the fluid momentum like you show. this "egg" beater method looks really helpfull. going to try this and hopefully it will help. Thanks!

Turning hook and the shoulders DO NOT torque
@KaptainCanuckАй бұрын
On the pulses DO NOT allow the foot to drop since, like in weight lifting, both motions up and down develop strength, stamina, and endurance. The down motion should take a second more of time to lower than the raising.

i like open palm gloves. but i think thicker mma style gloves like karate combat, pride, etc should be next but emphasizing on thumb protection. With big gloves its tricky to clinch and catch kicks...
@catspaw3 ай бұрын
I'm trying to understand what the reason is behind turning the thumb down with your rear punch. The only thing I can think of is it forces your shoulder up to cover the chin, but it feels unnatural to torque your arm like that.
@bradquakeriddell3 ай бұрын
@@catspaw yea. It makes the shoulder come up so you are defensively responsible while you attack. Cause if you attack and they slip and counter etc then your chins left open .
@catspaw3 ай бұрын

I know that what you use against a southpaw will also work for a southpaw. but its always set from mentality of how to beat a southpaw not how to fight as a southpaw. the first thing shown in this video is how to deal with left handed fighter left kick. but never how to improve that left kick as a southpaw or how to break the defense you just showed against the southpaw if you are the southpaw fighting against orthodox. I know almost nothing about martial arts. at best I only hit the pads from time to time. I like martial arts more than most sports but I still don't like it mostly because of guys like you. or far worse Joe Rogan or someone equally stupid moron.

Hey man that was a really good breakdown! Will definitely be trying to apply some of this stuff in sparring. More content about open stance match ups would be great as I am a southpaw myself.
