@@SodbustaIf you do a Google search there are many seed companies online that sell the Giant Marconi variety for less then $ 5 bucks , I would suggest you select the largest seeds from the pack you buy and plant those first then when you harvest your peppers save the seeds from your largest peppers and do that again the next year and you will be amazed at your results and also store your seeds when dried in the refrigerator in a Paper Envelope Not Plastic so they can breathe you could put them back in the original paper pack in the fridge or use a mailing envelope (that's what I do ) . Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My 1st time watching your channel and I have been considering this for a long time now. Thanks to you I’m doing this this week! I have 13 5 gallon buckets left (I grew peas (✅) and I have cucumbers in another one that are going CRAZY! I’m doing them vertical this year. So I’ll get busy prepping some buckets for potatoes. Did you fertilize? What soil? I’m in Utah so I’m hoping I can do this. My heart is in it so that counts for something right? Seriously thank you kind Sir.
@citylotgardening61712 күн бұрын
@@Nana2KCASBO we basically reused our garden soil with some potting mix added to loosen up the soil , we amended the soil with Bone Meal , Wood Ash , and organic Tomato and Vegetable fertilizer. I would add that this variety is indeterminate so that could have been why we had a nice harvest from such small pots . I also have Sarpo Mira indeterminate potatoes planted in 5 gallon buckets the tops are around 5 feet tall I'll be doing a harvest video on those soon and it's appearing that they may be our best container harvest yet so stay tuned friend and thanks for watching 👍

@@citylotgardening6171 I am overwhelmed by the generosity of information in your reply❣️ I do the Bone meal (plus clean dry & create a fine powder from our Silkies eggs) but didn’t know about the T & V fertilizer or the wood ash (for which I haven’t any) but I’ll revisit the video for the one you use (T & V fertilizer) I’m not sure which potato’s I’ll select to attempt to grow as I haven’t paid too much attention to brands/names/varieties to date. I just know in my heart I want/need to try. I’m doing them in the 5 gallon buckets for 2 reasons (not that we don’t have space) BUT with the mild winter we’ve had there has been a massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) population of voles, mice and gophers here in Utah. So much so that I’ve lost most of my garden to the critters! So, I’ll be lining my buckets (on the outside) around the holes with fine wire to attempt to keep the pesky little critters away! The “Pest” companies are working 16 hour days just to try and assist in saving gardens/yards. I/we haven’t seen it this bad in YEARS! 2~ I’m working on the suns placement later in the year going into fall. To some this may not matter but with the area we live I want to give them the best chance with short growing time as we never know what Mother Nature has up her sleeve for us here. Also, I found we have a massive virgin clay area that I was planning on growing a lot of produce to which isn’t ideal for growing this year to which I happen to stumble upon your video of “clay area”. Fate? Chance? Happening to stumble upon your channel just now…🤷♀️ I’m telling you we have our own weather system in the area we live in here in Utah. I’ll view other videos you have as we’re similar in “zones” since they’ve shifted some zones around this year. Thank you again and I’ll make sure that I take notes. Blessings to you and your wonderful family. Respectfully, Staci 🌺

@@Nana2KCASBO with your short growing season left might I suggest Yukon Gold variety potatoes if you can find them they are a determinate potato that finish in 90 to 100 days after sprouting above ground you may also want to wrap the bottom of your buckets in hardware cloth and bury the buckets 2 to 3 inches in the ground your potatoes will grow safely inside the buckets and the roots can grow down into the ground and get more nutrients , thanks again for commenting and watching friend 👍
@Nana2KCASBO6 сағат бұрын
@@citylotgardening6171 I’m in Utah and that’s a very common potato (I can always go north to Idaho not so far away too😁) I’ll do the wire outside of the bucket and bury them as our yard has been attacked by VOLES and if I’m going all this work I’ll be damned if I’m going to feed them anymore! So I’ll cut them in 1/2, wait till they “scab” over then finish doing the burying. Idk if I’ll have enough time to get a cycle out of them but I’ll do my best and let you know! Thanks again for the great ideas and information. If I do not succeed this year I’ll prep for the spring for sure 🥰

Carrots & Parsnips grow well in my Michigan zone 6A garden (30 gallon grow bags) but they take a long time to get nice & big. I sow them in early April, and start harvesting the end of October through early December. The Lunar White & black nebula varieties do grow faster & they tend to bolt the 1st year if I leave them in the ground too late into the season.
