I play each string as a separate piano which have lead to me to play scales in the shape of cylinders instead of boxes. Like my focus is on playing a scale like how i would on a piano going up and down the strings but then added the layer of using two strings. But when i am supposed to play the scales in a box is it really hard.

I play each string as a separate piano so ive always seen them as a full board of notes. That have lead to me to play scales in the shape of cylinders instead of boxes.

so awesome hearing you guys talking about jazz, you really need to give your jazz learning pathway a revamp. If you could create a new jazz learning pathway in the style of your neo-soul pathway, I think you Pickup Music would be the undefeated number one. Nonetheless, I absolutely love your platform!

No comment on the video contents, but why a picture of Sonny Clark in the thumbnail? Did you mean to put Grant instead?

Benson should not be so controversial. He's a hard-bop goat as well! A great Benson moment here is him coming up on stage unexpectedly and burning down the house on a strat: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJvHeWSKbc2Wb8U

Thanks for sharing! It's always cool seeing guitar legends playing axes that aren't typically associated with them.

problem with this is it’s much harder to develop scales from this shape. great thing about caged is it’s very easy to alter scale notes, whether it’s the modes or harmonic/melodic or even half/wholetone and dim scales

Hehehe it’s ok if you want to put Ca7riel but the cover of the video says “Jazz Goats” and his face is there. Hahaha I did enjoy the video tho :) thanks

lol, you knew you’d get hate for that last guy playing the Strat. You can’t say that person is one of the GOAT’s with a straight face - but maybe you did that deliberately to get interaction. Who doesn’t include Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, Mike Stern or John Scofield on this list. 🤦

Hahaha yea well the video is really about top 10 “moments”... but the thumbnail is admittedly a bit click baity… 😏 my reason for including Ca7riel is obviously not because he’s a jazz GOAT. His solo, being played in 2024, and going massively viral, is a testament to the power of jazz guitar imho. In the right hands and musical context, jazz guitar stylings can still have an incredible impact!
