I have changed the drive pinion and plate with your great advice. Thanks. I'm now working in my cutting cylinder and after taking it all apart have found that the bearings and bearing rings with felt washers, all need replacing. Can't find any anywhere. Is there an upgrade you are aware of. It's a Balmoral 17se. Thanks.

Apparently, there's a cylinder felt seal rung that pushes on top of the bearing. That's what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Unleaded gasoline means that politicians, acting against the people as usual, banned thebuse of lead. So everyone HAD to stop adding lead tetra-etilo used to get high octane ratings, and replaced it with alcohol to get the high enough octane rating required for normal engines that are designed with very high compression in order to lower fuel consumption, increase efficiency in other words, because ethanol was lowering the efficiency by lowering the caloric power of the fuel. Poor people!

Glycol is much better than water in order to remove up to 10% of ethanol plus up to 3% of methanol included in our terribly treated gasoline. By removing that shit we are increasing the caloric power but lowering the octane index. My 5hp outboard requires only 92 octane fuel, free of ethanol, to get the rated 5hp maximum power and not developing aceto bacteria after being left in the tank for one or three weeks. So I bought 1 liter of glycol and 5 liters of 98 octane gas (petrol). I do know that my 4.5 liters left of ethanol free gasoline will not be 98 octane anymore but now will still have more than 92 octane index. Just used 0.5 liters of glycol that I kept for the next time because it's not as cheap but much better for this purpose than plain water.

The Marquis gets my vote every time, its nice and heavy, just what you want to lay a nice defined stripe, that F12 has plenty of torque backed up by a heavy flywheel so she'll cut and drive just fine on low rpm which saves on fuel, plus that huge grass box is great. After 4 years I'm suprised that Ewarts fuel top didn't just pizz everywhere as the cork inside shrinks then swells after soaking in fuel overnight. Does the new battery powered jobbie have any control over cylinder speed or is it just the drive speed you can adjust? I'd like to have seen it with a slower ground speed and a high cutting speed for a finer cut and clearing the grass clippings right to the back of the box, one drawback of the vintage machines is with a low rpm the clippings sometimes build up at the front of the box which you've then got to push forward, saying that a skilled operator can raise the rpm and feather the drive clutch 😉

Hi just a few points, you mention the height of what is pronounced babada is 1700ft however it is in metres. I took off twice paragliding at the 1900m point roughly 6000ft and you don't need to book a trip. Just take the dolmus and book at the cable car office. Good vid though. The city views are Hisaronu and Fethiye.

Yes I’ve been seeing videos and about spark arresters. The HS45 is about a year/two years old. I use it to cut a maze at work so you can imagine it’s getting a fair share of wear and tear. Is the spark arrester attached to the muffler?

Hi Mike great video, I’ve been having trouble with our HS45 hedge cutter, it keeps cutting off when cutting hedges on the side, the blades are also laboured and slow when pressing the throttle triggger. I’ve followed your maintenance guide but it’s still cutting out. I noticed when I used it today the exhaust muffler became really hot after 10mins and started to smoke. Do you know what could be causing it?
