Thanks for that review, very helpful! I just ordered the TRABUCO 11 GTX. In my experience the ASICS brand shoes are the only ones that don't give me blisters for 40+km distance so I would like to stick to the same brand. I am a bit worried about the thin sole that you mentioned but I hope that has improved in the 11s. Moreover I have read that the GTX is noticable heaver that the non-GTX variant, can you confirm that? Thanks again!
@marathontrainingwithivan Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! It's not really the sole that is thin, but the tongue beneath the laces. I hope they improved that with the 11th version. I have not tried the non gtx version, but these trail shoes definitely feel more heavy than normal running shoes. But judging from the centre of mass, that's mainly due to the heavier rubber sole which is common for trail shoes.

@Estertje93 Жыл бұрын
@@marathontrainingwithivan i have no idea but it was a lot. The tallest dune is like 55 m above NAP and we went up and down a few times before getting to the beach. The first 4km were the worst (up and down the dunes to the south of Zoutelande), then lots of soft sand and then a mountainbike trail, finishing with the last 4km of the marathon route over the dunes and the the beach again. I was wayyy behind the group after the dunes but I wanted to preserve energy. I passed maybe 30 runners on the last 7km, most were struggling on the last dunes. The sunset and the sea and the views really made it something special. But it was a tough one!

Hii, thankyou! This was my coming back marathon and taking it easy with the pace, especially in the training. Last time I went for speed, I ended up with a runners knee. Great recap! I've also ran the half marathon of Zwolle, in 1:37. You still managed to get a great time with the factors you had to deal with. I wonder, how did you run a sub 1:30 last year with all the people you have to pass at the beginning? I noticed slowing down about 30/40 seconds at the beginning because people wouldn't move and you also had the business runners that started in front of us - after that I blew up because I wanted to run faster to compensate for the time loss.
@marathontrainingwithivan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Great time man with these temperatures! In the past they had different starting blocks based on times. I do not know why they are not doing that anymore. However last year this was not there anymore already. I really feel what you have been going through as I had the same experience last year, but also this year with this 1.48. Last year, I ran the first few kilometers a bit faster zigzaging through the people, but that costs a lot of energy. Next to that I ran on the pavement next to the road for a while at the start eventhough that was not allowed. But the best tip is just to work your way through the people before the start. Take 10 minutes to just walk through all the waiting people until you are somewhere at the front. Are you going to run another half soon? I suppose that 1.30 half marathon was your goal?
@Richard-lx3xk Жыл бұрын
@@marathontrainingwithivan Thanks!! Interesting that you've had the same experience and you are right, it costs a lot of energy. But walking through the waited people is something I should have done, so that's a great tip I'm going to implement. Yeah, a sub 1.30 was my original goal. I will be running the marathon of Eindhoven in October (I'm going for sub 3:10) so that will be my main event to train for, but I might do another half in september to see where I'm at. What are your plans in the coming months? Looking at your times on Strava, you can definitely run a FAST marathon. Your times are better than mine.
@marathontrainingwithivan Жыл бұрын
@@Richard-lx3xk Thanks! I think it is good to do another half marathon, just to get into the mood and manage your expectations! I do not know how the Eindhoven Marathon is, but if they do not have seperate starting blocks, you should definitly take your time to walk to the front ;) At the moment I am looking into some trails as a preparation for my next goal: I am planning to run the Kustmarathon Zeeland in October. I am coming back from a knee injury, so I do not want to push yet with fast times and the kustmarathon Zeeland was always on my wish list. As it is not a fast marathon it suits definitly with the roadmap ahead for mee: I first want to build up mileage again and not mileage and speed at the same time. Probably in the spring of 2024 I will try running a fast marathon.

Regarding long laces, there should be two more holes on the top to really fix the shoe on your foot. If you do this, the length might be more acceptable.
@marathontrainingwithivan2 жыл бұрын
