This is so good. I'm going to listen again. (And take notes.) One thing with insurance papers, if you have a major event ( like a serious accident that requires air lifting and hospitalization) keep a lidded "document box" with everything jn it. A lifesaver when my daughter had to be airlifted. We got a $21,000 bill two years later. And our insurance company (Aetna) only keeps records online for two years. All said and done, we ended up actually getting money back. (Long story.) Google the Federal "No Surprise Act." Important info about emergency services. (It's only a page and a half long.)

Growing older I realize I’m more clumsy, can’t do things like in my youth and especially today I found myself yelling at ME… I need more patience with myself, find other words, if something happens, like something falls down, I spill something, make a big mistake with my knitting or playing the guitar. The truth is, that I always find things more interesting than cleaning or I feel tired. I often use the TOTH trick, feeling like a Jedi knight, learned it from Diane in Denmark, who uses the flylady system, too. I finally got rid of all my single socks that lost their partners! I can’t believe I kept holding on to them thinking the other will show up. Well, now that they are gone, I’m sure those partners will turn up and I’ll just throw them away. Truth is..I have enough matching pairs. Next step is to go through all the white tank tops and tee shirts and black tank tops and black t shirts.

For gifts and gatherings all year we keep a separate savings that we add to ALL YEAR long. Because birthdays are always coming. As soon as you buy that years gift there's a need to start saving for the next year. It's a constant so that at no time during the year do we feel like we don't have enough. Also keeping a list of names, occasions, and the item(s) spent on helps to keep track of what you've already given and won't repeat (unless requested). If you discover or volunteer to be the host and hostess for anything coming up immediately add the amount needing to have everything. Our monthly budget fluctuates according to the economy. This year has seen a rise in pricing for everything. Being the host family doesn't mean you have to be the only one spending for needed items and foods. Ask for others to bring side dishes, dessert , or even beverages. Make it easy and just know trying to outdo last year only creates competition and over spending more and more each year. We all know that family that has so many activities at a birthday party that it can create a need for you to do the same. Don't go into that trap/rabbit hole. Simple is always best.

Why don't you celebrate Easter? You mentioned God and Jesus for Christmas; but said you don't celebrate Easter, which is all about Jesus. .Without Jesus, there is no Christmas. I'm just curious!

You are so right Kat. Keeping your home nice is a consistent little-bit-at-a-time process. When you accept and embrace this you begin to enjoy the process because it is easy and doable. Your home becomes so loved and stays that way :)

I use white vinegar instead of bleach for environmental and allergic reasons, but since it does not disinfect as well as bleach, I add 10 drops each of thyme, lavender, lemon and tea tree essential oils to 1cup on white vinegar and a sink full of hot water. It smells divine and achieves the same level of disinfection. Just thought I'd share. 💜

This is a great reminder. Kindness is so simple but definitely not always easy. I will spend more time this week being conscious of moments of kindness, and more importantly catching and changing those moments when I'm not being as kind as I should be.

We have a Speed Queen washing machine that I tell how much water to fill and I can open the lid to toss in an item of clothing that I forgot. I do about 3 loads of laundry a day for one person and a dog. I send out my husband’s laundry for washing, folding and dry cleaning. He is construction and his clothes are heavy and dirty. It saves in the wear and tear of the washing machine. My girlfriend told me about this service. Her three children went to private school and she always sent out all the children’s clothing as well as her husbands. This is very helpful as we know there are other items that need to be washed: sheets, coverlets, towels, napkins, tablecloths, dish rags and such. The price was reasonable we’re we live. Maybe it will be the same for you.

Kat! This is the first time in 60 years that I have heard the definition of organization! Oh my word: it’s simply means putting like with like! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I am grateful! Thank you! I stuff things in cabinets, drawers, closets, bins, basement, and garage. This is where my clutter is. In 60 years I’ve never been able to organize bc I didn’t have the definition. Wow. I’m excited to start decluttering and then organizing. I think not knowing how to organize was a block for me to even decluttering bc it didn’t seem to make a difference. I have ADD. Yet excite to clear out and organize. Thank you again! God bless you!
