Just a few days ago, I replayed the game, and I can confirm that it is amazing. I had so much fun avenging the bosses who made me suffer during my first playthrough.

I'm so over this Sega (SNES) art style. No matter how good the game might be, this is just painful to look at.

I'm glad you started this video with a correct and factual statement. Nothing kills my interest in a game faster than forcing me to immediately trust that their Gameplay loop is good enough to die 600 times and still somehow be okay with fighting the same boss.

I actually hate most rouge likes do to feeling like I don't make progress this one is an exception along with Cult of the Lamb.

DUDE!. This game is the greatest roguelike of all time for me. This game is so fast space, there's no grinding, there's not "You have to die a ton of time to progress the story", the combos you can make mix into everything. You can have literally every single element on a build compare to other rogue like that force you into a build path of having 2 max 3 "elements". This game is underrated and i hated it didn't blew up because is so great. I really love it this one. This game doesn't have a compelx story. You just there to kick some ass and that's it. There's no risk or world ending narrative or drama. Is just proof you're the best wizard and dunk on those other kids. I played this game for over 100 hours and i never felt like i end up with the same build like in Hades or other rogue likes. No element was weak No skill was useless I cannot wait for Wizard of Legends 2

What a well crafted video essay! I feel the same way about Wizard of Legend! I also found this in a lesser known title called Vagante that doesn't give you overpowered stats to win but allows for the simple progression described in your video!

I love WoL so much that the Demo for WoL2 feels so weird. I still haven't unlocked everything but it's so much fun and every so often i'll play my cousin and we'll duke it out in vs. (he hates the co-op because he dies a lot lol)

Aaaand then the second comes out as a demo and lacks all of that! (at least my experience with it)

It seems like EVERYTHING is a damned roguelike / rogue lite now days. Honestly, I am just over the game loop. There are some amazing games with it, but it is so overdone it doesn't matter anymore.

I love wizards but sucks at it, a mistake felt so punishing. kind of gave up on it.

I agree with you most roguelikes are too slow to deliver gameplay variability, I prefer those with easy mode that you can first try and experiment quickly a large part of content.
