Living in South Africa you need to adapt to diffrent cultures, belief systems and climates. Boertjies learn from an early age not to complain but rather come up with a different strategy if one isn't working. We also don't use excuses or unfair treatment as a crutch. There is a saying " jy moet hare op jou tande he. (When things get tough, grow hair on your teeth.) You smile through rough weather until you reach the other side.

It might be that Major du Toit was sold out, after all we must not forget that Dieter Gerhardt was Officer Commanding the Naval Dockyard in Simonstown and he was a commie spy. But the convoluted story about Angola having prisoners so South Africa had to be sold out to the ANC is just nonsense. Maj du Toit was no doubt a good soldier and a fantastic leader in an elite unit, but geopolitics is not his strength.

Nie net FW nie, maar all die poepolle in die HNP, KP, BB, AWB ens. Die fout is gemaak in 1910 toe die ANC vra om deel van die Unie te wees. Ons nasie kon soveel sterker gewees het as wat ons nou is. Te veel jare gemors met interne onderonsies. Rassie vir president.

Anyway, I like your story and it keeps me going especially the day you had told me that your capture was as a result of betrayal by your owner. Not because it lessened my pain, but because it said to me, WAR IS EVIL AND ONE CAN EASILY BECOME ITS CASUALTY WITHOUT ANY VALID REASON.

Mj Du Toit, your issue has finally been settled and it became clear that your incarceration was part of the Plot for Peace and upon release you got a heroes welcome, was probably rewarded greatly, probably attended some psychological counselling, yet you STILL attribute your short spans of time stated in various places afterwards to psychological unsettling until you understood the Brazaville Accords. Survivors of the Swapo dungeons have not had any consolation, rehabilitation, counselling, or any form of comfort, resulting I most suffering POST TRAUMATIC DISORDERS if varried degrees. If you know anything, no matter how minute, please just talk about it.

Captain Du Toit, you might recall that you and I were linked up by the late John Liebenberg (MHSRIEP), some years back and I had asked you questions about the so-called "spies" you (Apartheid SA Defence Force) had supposedly sent to SWAPO. This is because of thousands of Namibians who ended up languishing in the hellholes in Lubango. Please, the survivors of that miserable era who have no idea HOW or WHY they got there desperately need the answers as to: Had SA sent spies to infiltrate Swapo and if in the affirmative, who are they? Is there anyone from that era still alive in SA who can just help tell the truth about what that spy drama was all about? It has damaged lives PERMANENTLY, and ONLY THE TRUTH WILL FREE THE STILL TORMENTED SOULS!

Nice to see old faces again after all these years (Aubrey). Yes . this story is as close as it is going to get. The whole team had got through Seychelles customs bar 1. None of them were searched vigorously but there was a local woman who had arrived on another flight in front of (KB) who was the last of the team. They vigorously searched her to which she complained that none of the tourists (now sitting on the bus) were searched . So to prove a point they searched the last member of the group vigorously and that's when they found the weapon and all hell broke lose.. The rest is history. Phyllis , Mikes wife was an introvert but a wonderful woman. Accepted me into there home in Hilton with the above mentioned team before we started meetings in DBN.

@@Yintmcy It's similar to the Nazi "stabbed in the back" falicy that Adolf rode on in the 1920's to explain why Germany lost WW1. The guys are saying that Apartheid and white rule could have carried on for ever, except it's obvious to anyone with a brain that it couldn't. Basically what actually happened in those days, is that South Africa won all the battles. But as time went on, it started getting more difficult all the time and by the end of the '80s South Africa managed to win all military objectives but had given up on air superiority because the Cubans had better aircraft and actually much better missiles that the SAAF could not compete against. This made it clear that future battles were going to be unlikely to be won. There was only one way out - negotiate from a position of relative strength which they did and South Africa ended up with a pretty good constitution and a chance for a future. It's just a pity that the ANC government was made up of a bunch of thieving gangsters.

The Americans interference in the change over from the old South Africa to the new government was exactly the same interference by the Americans and the British governments that happened to the Rhodesians . The Mugabe regime was not ready or responsible enough to rule a country , and Ian Smith told the world this , but America and Britain interfered with their evil dirty politics . Politicians are the cause of all wars , they are responsible for the millions of deaths all over this world ! I found this interesting and the interview was very honest and professional . Sadly imprisoned for what .. my heart feels sad for this man . My respect goes out to him and sorrow for those soldiers that lost their lives because of those politicians .
