Why does the exam scoring include scaling with psychometric statistical methods? Why not see an individual’s ability on his or her own? Scaling does not reflect an individual’s value.

April 2024 results are posted, and the building depth pass rates are abysmal; so low that your odds are better if you guess the answers. Testing centers should at least be required to provide 2 monitors per person. I don't know any engineers who don't bookmark their references, and I certainly don't know any who could efficiently work from a single screen while simultaneously referring to multiple un-bookmarked references on that same screen. This is a half-baked attempt by NCEES to outsource and cut costs and the profession will suffer as a result.

Next, second screen, because all engineering work requires reference review/verification while you are doing the work. A single screen is only adequate for someone who uses the screen to read romance novels. These exam proctors have no idea what it takes to solve an engineering problem or design a structure that requires repeated review of tables or graphs, and various codes. So don't blame the proctor organization, they are clueless. Complain to the organization that controls the NCEES. even there they are probably out of date to the current trade skills required to work today. I passed the two day exam in an un-airconditioned in a desert city, using pencil and paper with hand calculator and bound book of math tables and bound code books. Sweat from my arms made some parts of the exam paper too wet to write on and the guy next to me had his slide-rule catch fire. 😅

How to communicate with the assigned evaluator?

CBT is helpful is finding resources quickly during the exam. However, there are equations that are not given in any resource. This adds an extra layer of difficulty to the exam. If test takers could bring in only one resource to the exam, I would recommend the CERM. It has several general equations that may not be provided in the Handbook or the codes. Also, I have been taking various practice exams, and I would appreciate it if the fill in the blank questions would state the format of the answer required. For instant: if say the answer were PI. Is the answer 3.14, 3.142, 3.1? I have missed points on practice exams due to this issue.

If you want a copy of the codes to study you have to buy them. Or find them yourself some other way. NCEES doesn't give out study copies.

NCEES does not recognize WES evaluations. They will reject your application even though you evaluated your education at WES course-by-course. They ignore your education. 😭😭

2023. Nice water bottle, lose it. no water allowed. Nothing but your clothes are allowed, and they will search those clothes twice. Dont look scared - they can smell fear and asume you are cheating somehow. They will search every page of your refenences, your tabs need to be stapled or you cannot test for some reason. Bring your current ID and have a second picture ID if you do not print out the confimation letter. Turn your phone off and put every possible thing into a locker and do not go back for anything till your test is done. Bathroom breaks are allowed through your test time will keep ticking - stay away from your locker, your not getting anything out of it. Lunch for me I can go to locker and leave the building (7 hr exam) Pictures will be taken of you so look good. Palm hand scans on entry to the testing room. Your on video and audio at all times and they will keep walking around the room bothering the shit out of you. Ive never experienced Auschwitz 1940s Germany but I have taken a Pearson Vue exam. This place is serious. Ive been 9over 10 times for Soils, Asphalt and Concrete level 1,2 and 3. I will die here.

I wish we could use scratch paper, pencils, and/or pens...it's what we've used for our entire schooling career. But no, with the most important exam of our life and we're forced to use dry-erase markers and a booklet.
