How to use the onscreen line tool

Not being able to move lines will seriously impede any test-takers ability to use the chart. I dont understand why NCEES cant make that work.

If the SHR line cannot be dragged, are we just supposed to eye ball the angle of that slope and draw it on the chart ? Sweet !!!

Did no one think to make the line colored? A bright blue or red would definitely provide more contrast.

Can you select a line and drag it from one location to another? For example, if you draw a line on the sensible heat ratio portion of the psych chart, can you drag that line to the actual psych chart?

The line cannot be moved or dragged. At this time, you can only draw a line and remove it with Ctrl Z.

@@NCEESMedia i think this graph needs to include the sensible heat 'protractor' portion. many questions ask about sensible heat ratio and at this point we have no way of drawing them on the chart. unfortunate, short sighted work by NCEES. Also, what if you draw more than 10 lines? are you just stuck with lines on your graph for the remainder of your test? Why is 10 the limit?

you also need to be able to drag the lines as sara mentioned. another critical process that is done. are we just supposed to 'eyeball' a sensible heat ratio of 0.8 vs 0.7? it's not possible. it can't be that hard considering we are paying nearly $400 per test to iron out some these kinks like are mentioned above.

I tried to take a screenshot to use the SHR tool in the top left hand corner. I dont understand how this tool works. Can SHR no longer be used? It seems like this is needlessly difficult. Theres enough uncertainty going around right now. It would be nice to know how we will be able to use a simple tool.

The Supplied Reference Handbook (SRH) will be available and can still be used but it is limited to the left half of the screen. Psychrometric and refrigerant charts are provided as separate exhibits so you can make them larger than half screen. This makes them easier to read and draw lines which is more accurate than using the psychrometric charts in the SRH. The line drawing tool functions like drawing a line on a pdf file or in a Microsoft product like powerpoint or paint. The line drawing tool will be available with the SRH.

After selecting the line tool icon, click and hold the mouse button where you wish a line segment to start. A line segment will begin at that location. Hold the mouse button while moving to another location, then release the mouse button. A line segment will be placed between the two points.

@@NCEESMedia There is a sensible heat ratio protractor in the top left that is needed to show the relationship between supply air and the final state point. Test takers need to be able to move a traced line to answer some problems.

@nceesmedia This is great, especially for psychrometric charts. Will lines be able to be red to stand out a bit more than having more black lines on the screen?

Will it be possible to remove specific lines without having to hit Ctrl z? i.e. after drawing 3 lines, is there a way to remove only the second line without removing the third line?

At this time, the line drawing tool will only delete the last line drawn with Ctrl z. We may look into other functionality for the line drawing tool in the future.

@nceesmedia Can you add the functionality of adding points? and is it 10 lines per problem......if I were to plot 3 lines, minimize the window to read the problem again, and then open the pop-up, will the 3 lines still be there? I also agree with others that the lines should be different colors and the ability to drag a line would help save time and add accuracy.

Are there other colors available for lines? it gets messy and hard to identify with all other black grid lines and curves.

The line tool and onscreen chart is module is poorly designed with many system glitches that don't respond to the Ctlr+Z delete clicks. also, there is the inability to parallel line or drag a line for SHR too. it's a pure waste of time and effort for the exam taker. add to that the reference handbook search function doesn't allow the option to search for "whole words only", instead, it will show results from irrelevant parts of words too.
