@@tinkertable1977 We literally support multiple small businesses every month by 1. Including their products in our box each month and 2. Providing training and resources through our product to help them grow their business. I would actually argue we do more than most other businesses to help our local Aussie entrepreneurs 🙌

The boxes are just way too expensive locally when you’re doing as much as we are. We save way more going overseas. As a business owner you have to make the right financial decisions to keep your business afloat and profitable. Lots of local small businesses buy supplies from overseas. By going overseas for the packaging we have more budget to spend on products in the box and also keep our product affordable for our members who are small business owners. ☺️

In a similar business (magazine) I printed 1000pc for $3k+ locally in year 1. Year 2 the same quality magazines were printed in China for $13k including shipping. Its a no brainer to print overseas and was the difference between being in the red or black.

I would be doing all the operational side same time as the marketing steps. So I would be showing all the behind the scenes of mocking up your box to your potential members. Take them along for the journey, capture their email and get their opinions on what products they would like to have. I would recommend making a few "mock up" boxes so you can have at least have something to show. It doesn't have to be the exact one you start off with but at least gives people an idea of what type of products will be inside your box.

I'm glad you liked the video! When I first launched, I did a pre-order and didn't ship the first boxes until 3 months later. This helped me gauge demand and avoid over-ordering stock. Plus it gave me cash to actually buy the stock too. I also used Facebook Ads to drive traffic to my website since it's faster than organic growth. If you have multiple product ideas, check Google Trends to see how often people search for those keywords and compare their popularity. At the end of the day, you never know till you try! If it doesn't work, just got to move onto the next idea.

I have an idea right now for a subscription box, but I dont think you've talked about how to actually source all these different products from other brands and negotiating it. For example, something like Barkbox (they offer dog products + food in a subscription box), how am I supposed to approach brands and ask them to have their product in my subscription box and working out the profitability as well?
