Sorry to interrupt, do you know if you can use human makeup to paint a BJD made of plastic? If you apply varnish over it, will it come off the same way or not?

Im a big fan of the sculpt. The thick lips, the big ears, the defined nose. It isnt the typical anime girl face that youve seen a million times.

I have recently come to love purple doll bases, and you really did it justice! Those thick brows are also so wonderful.

Looks like polypropylene hair based on multiple factors. You can boil wash it, that will mask it look much better. We are soul sisters on the whole foot situation! I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone else ever complain before. So refreshing to know I’m not alone!

I love these dolls, i have the first 4. They do appear to have all the best bits from the mattel range of dolls. I need the others now 😩 😅

My dream bestie Ken came today! He has a very nice face- reminds me a lot of EAH boys. His proportions are also very similar to theirs so they could share clothes. He just has smaller feet and a thicker neck than EAH boys. He doesn't feel as good quality though as the dream bestie girls. No hip articulation and his hands feel a bit flimsy. I also don't love how his head is attached. So I wouldn't waste your money on him if you're already iffy on getting him😂

The Cat TV dolls are on sale for like 35 on kikagoods right now. I will say that ever if you don't like the object head design, the bodies a a bit thicker like the festival dolls. Personally I like the object head look and they are really fun to customize if you get an extra screen piece for the tv.

I guess mechanical joints can be sensitive and prone to break off if you accidentally force in the wrong direction. ;( I have the Sakura Cat TV doll from UF! I couldn't resist ordering her from Taobao when I was in Japan. XD (no customs, wee) It's so quirky! And really nice quality, too. But yea, she's definitely more of a display doll. Though, you could make a custom face for her if you wanted to. ^^ I also got the 10000 Escape Plans ones, and decided to keep the pink, and yea, no way she's standing with that hair, lol! I have one of those Nendoroid head backs that you can find on AliExpress and the like, with magnets for ears and stuff, and it actually fits her ok! That way you can put wigs on them as well.

I am loving the festival girl! she is super cute! The body is *chefs kiss* chubby happiness. I love it! I have unboxed a few of the 10,000 escape plans girls (video out friday if you want to check it out) and they do have their issues, but the 90's grunge/goth style is what drew me. I did get a pink girl as well and she can stand with help from the shoes, but it's a tedious task to do sometimes. I won't get more just because I got the ones I wanted. But still, like you said could be better if they fixed their issues. I do plan on one of those festive girls though!! So cute!

Have you thought of having an apprentice when it comes to doll repaints?

When it comes to BJDs their hands should be magnetic instead of the thin little pegs that are super prone to breaking. Especially the fashion line ones where you can get packs of different outfits to put on your doll. These dolls aren't the cheapest so breaking a hand peg would send me into orbit. Still super cute though.

I really like this trend, a lot of dolls are affordable price-quality vise and cute! I am not the biggest fans of BJDs, and elastic strings, but some of them, like Laura, are made more like fashion dolls/action figures. I bought Eve Lynne one and she is great!! Only scale is a bit unconventional, like 1/8 or 1/10, somewhere between 1/12 and 1/6. Also, Kurhn is producing mini blind box versions of their dolls and I am waiting for them to appear on Aliexpress.

Yeah, as some people mentioned already: the hand gesture is a gen z way of making a heart with their hands. We use both, they use one, cause the other one needs to hold a phone for a selfie :) At least that’s my reasoning :D

i love the TV head cat BJD outfits but i hate the object heads 😭

The strap on the Lara doll's hat is supposed to go around the back of the head, then in front of the ears to hold the hat in place. The flower can move to the side. The Lara doll's hands that have the thumb & forefinger in that slightly crossed pose, are supposed to be a tiny heart. If you look at the way the fingertips are crossed, they look like you are holding a tiny heart. The 10 Thousand Escapes doll's hair thing is supposed to be secured behind her face . You take off her bangs, and her face. Then put the loop over her neck. Put her face together again, move the band up to the top of the back of her hair & then secure the bangs in place.

Not gonna lie. I kind of wanna get some of those Kikagoods dolls. But I feel like the disappointment of not getting the blind box toy I wanted will only be made worse by the anticipation as I wait for my package to arrive.

Your Laura. I think the strap is meant to go under the chin, but on mine, the strap is too long. The flower is held on with flimsy thread and will size along the string. I also hate dressing dolls. HAHA! I legit sew so much, and have so many clothes, and can't stand putting them on!

I've always been weirded out by the US custom of leaving packages on porches, because it makes people vulnerable to this exact issue. To my knowledge it's not done in a lot of other countries, usually a person needs to actually receive it in order for it to be considered delivered. Anyways it sucks that that happened to you, but I'm glad Kikagoods had such good customer service and took care of it. I'd probably also be like welll...... time to mail myself a glitter bomb ;)

I got my first BJDs on Aliexpress and Taobao!! There are definitely recasters you have to watch out for, but there are even more legit doll artists who sell on those websites and they are very affordable. For anyone new to the hobby, as long as you do your research before buying, Ali is actually a great place to start building your collection without breaking the bank. I've gotten some of my favourite dolls in my collection from Aliexpress, found some of my favourite artists there!

You are very talented, the painting process is very successful. How do you fix these paints on the baby's face? Don't the paints deteriorate with contact?
