I've got the timbren with ubolt flip One downside is when water or dirt/mud get in, there is no drainhole at the bottom to get that crud out When it compresses while colliding with the frame it will make a slight hissing squishy noise, kind of annoying when offroading Makes me think my tires are losing air everything I go over an obstacle lol

Slipping tyres have NO grip whatsover. You need TORQUE rather than HorsePower. Look at this video of an Old LandRover Defender 110 climing a 90% incline in Low Gear on tickover. No drama, NO fush just pure TRACTION. Driving on Michelin 7.5 x 16 O/R tyres (so that is a 31" x 7.5 inch tyre mounted a 16" rim), P.O.R. rated which means; Professional Off Road. Later LandRover Defenders got 235/85R16 tyres (31.5" x 9.25") as a standard factory tyre. Often with General GRABBER TR in 235/85 R16 120/116 Q 10PR. There is a good reason for using Skinny tyres in the military! kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4K2nKuAoNWDgZY
@RobinRouwen11 күн бұрын
Wide tyres get a WIDER contact patch when airing down, more so than of a longer contact patch. SKINNY tyres will get a LONGER contact patch when airing down, rather than a wider contact patch when airing down. Interestingly enough, the contact patch area is the same, almost identical for the wide and narrow tyre! The main diffenrence is a LONGER contact erea, which means that the Skinny tyres are functioning like a tank track. Result: less spinning wheels, less loss off control, less need to air down and if airing down the wide tires need to be aired down much more (in PSI / Bar) than a Skinny. Take a look at the other KZbin links above for more details! Enjoy the video. And happy Tails! kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6KWeKqZhdB3fs0

The problem with this is that your using something designed for hauling or carrying a constant load where the helper spring can be engaged the majority of the time to help take the boatiness out of the main suspension. Neither of these are bump stops. A bump stop is designed to stop the suspension from over traveling period. Your SHOCKS are designed to take the harshness out of hitting a bump lmao
@AllTerrainFamily17 күн бұрын
The sumo product is as you say. The timbren is a bump stop. Though they do make something more similar to the sumo. What i have here is a bump stop. Or a helper spring miss advertised as a bump stop.

I'm here because the 2015 Tacoma I bought I just realized has black Sumo Springs on it. My question for off roaders & overlanders pulling something light like a Hiker Trailer...does the Sumo Spring have potential to cause a rollover by capping droop during articulation? I.E...what just happened in this video at the end. Would Sumo Springs prevent the uphill side of the axle from sagging down into it's travel on an off camber hill & potentially "bounce" the rear wheel off the ground causing a rollover?
@AllTerrainFamilyАй бұрын
Yeah. I guess that could happen.

@MoY206Ай бұрын
Sooo what I got out of this video is just stick with stock bump stops if you wheel a lot bc it limits travel but if you tow a lot then sumo's are worth it? For my application, I own a 3500 pound boat which I tow occasionally in the summer and spring and I wheel, tbh less then 6 times a year. Hmmm 🤔 decisions decisions lol.
@AllTerrainFamilyАй бұрын
I would say if you to A LOT, then get better leaf springs, if you tow occasionally then sumos are OK. An overload spring like a helper spring or add a leaf would be better and cheaper.
@30-06Ай бұрын

When camping in a spot where the ladder wont reach on uneven ground, i use my spare tire to put the ladder on. On my ARB Simpson 3 folding tent I store the window wire/rods in a piece of 24" long 1/2 pvc, at the front of the mattress, inside. Yes, the hooks stick out, 3 on each end, but they lay flat and I can EASILY verify I have all 6 at a glance. And I'd rather install them from inside if it's rainy or snowing. Also, my truck is lifted, so it's easier from inside. My tent flips open over the rear of the truck, covering the tailgate area, allowing me to use the tailgate as a work surface. That left me room to install a hitct-haul basket on the roof rack, just outside the front window to carry firewood, set the diesel heater on, or the 12v fridge, etc. It's also on a quick release so I can always take it off and stick it in the trailer hitch. 😊
@AllTerrainFamilyАй бұрын
Using the spare seems like a lot of work relative to finding a better camp site.
@harrypierce129823 күн бұрын
Yup. But if it's the only campsite available I'll use the tire. You can drive around and look for another campground. Easiest solution is a longer ladder. BUT, if SUDDENLY you realize that your ladder is too short based on the situation what are YOU gonna do? Fyi- don't try using the cooler 😄

Hey AT Fam, good review. I’ll offer another consideration for replacing the factory rear bump stops, it deals with intended use, the bump stops stop you from bottoming out the springs, and if your bottoming out the rear bump stops regularly you should have already upgraded your rear suspension and increase overall body lift (like you did 👍) However if your intended use is not constant heavy loads but towing, or occasional construction work, the sumo springs provide a low cost solution for the additional support they provide
@AllTerrainFamily2 ай бұрын
In most cases overload leaf springs are better and cheaper. Rubber and foam just aren’t sensible springs. Super Springs sells these products too. On a tacoma, they are just as easy to install.

Love the on vehicle in-use shots as well. Just an FYI, 4wheel Parts is closed on Sundays, thus their rti ramp is, um, free to use when dialing in suspension numbers. Great content. Keep it up.

Hey timbren and sumo! Why not develop a stop almost half the size in height with some sort of a screw in top addition/option for easy install for towing and the sag issues? Give us the option of what ride quality we want. The biggest issue with these is the loss of Ride quality for everyday driving.. The only people really looking at these are those who want to tow without sag and then keep their ride quality when not towing but are stuck with these issues.
