Love the analogy of stacking money to level the truck. I guess a few free rocks is even cheaper...lol.

These are the ones i have. I feel they are a good, more reasonably priced alternative to the $400+ max trax extremes, especially as a back up or extra set.

I've helped people get out of muddy fields in tractions boards. Traction boards can come in handy.

Consumerism is the name to attach, ahh Not once as a young lad exploring Nevada/ California in a 68 3/4 ton 2x4 with what we call all terrain tires today was anything needed other than common sense and a shovel. Somehow the majority of the roads in Death Valley, Black Rock Desert, along 395,etc.. were traversed with focus on exploration only. Today far more capable vehicles carry thousands of dollars in stuff, one has to look good. To note I have a shovel and sometimes worry that I haven’t spent enough. 😅

A buddy got a brand new Tacoma and his son wants to go camping. He asked me what he needed. I said “camping gear.” 🤣 But, I did say the best accessories are: 1. Shovel****** (the MOST valuable) 2. Air pump 3. Snatch strap 4. Traction boards

I used to carry 2, now I carry 4. They are light, don't take up a lot of space (garage and vehicle) and my shovel is strapped to a pair. So far they have recovered me twice, failed on me once (melted them) but have gone through my first set recovering others. Many other people. I carry straps, soft shackles and extra hitch pins but oftentimes the vehicle needing to be recovered has nothing safe to strap to. I struggled with the purchase early on but glad I have them now. I wheel alone enough that it has become an essential kit. Great video. Its fun watching you try to hide the sarcasm. Its more enjoyable to hear you say what we all are thinking...💅

Hello from Canada. I have no name copies, and in the snow, the boards have failed me the 2nd time now. The snow melts and lubricates the end I'm trying to drive up on. Those added grader metal ends seem much better.

Your recommendation of four boards is spot on. Keep wheel spin at a minimum. They have really help me in sand and snow, you don't always have a tree or anchor point for your winch.

It depends. Do you offroad all the time? Do you get in mud that is at least knee deep and or sandy beaches or desert that can have lots of soft sand?? well if the answer is NO, then you propbably could get by on teh cheap plastic boards for 40$ since you will probably never use them.. but good to have them just in cases.. but if the anwer is YES, then you need a decent traction board.

As Wolfy knows, I work in the literal middle of nowhere. Pretty often I am alone. I carry 2 sets of traction boards and chains anytime I am out for work. I have saved myself many miles of walking to a ranch house or some hunter's camp to get pulled out of snow, a creek or whatever. You might say that I should make better decisions but the problem with that sentiment is that I need to get to pretty remote spots on whatever shitty 2-track is available. Buy a side-by-side you say? F*&K that. Hate them. Other comments I have heard are 'get a winch'. To which I ask what giant sagebrush plant should I attach the winch to? I suppose I could carry a deadman but that is an awful lot of digging. So...I think traction bars are a pretty great tool. Mine are mounted inside my very tall Tradesman topper. I feel no real need to display gear to the denizens of Reno.

"I recommend getting 4 traction boards" - doesn't show a single clip in the entire video of using or needing 4.
