Imagine living peacefully then having your customs, culture, heritage and daily practices that your people were doing for centuries where you passed down those very traditions and customs for generations and generations on end, and then rises a superpower next door that basically is on its way to become the top superpower of the entire globe and determines to either outright restrict, ban, modify and/or completely severs those very things that make and define your people. You see, you're not the powerful majority Han Chinese ethnicity and that comes at a tremendous cost to your identity that you wish to continue to preserve and pass down without any external modification, license or even needing any permission (because your belief system is in a metaphysical God and is the ultimate authority) but since central to the rising super power's value system, tenets and objectives, it's essential, actually imperative, that the whole regions that it's power encompasses and governs, including those remote autonomous regions which your people find themselves, is unified and identify as one single body with common identity instead of separate individual regions with divided people having no common identity, just people scattered throughout having too many unmanageable customs, rules, languages, and lacking any centralized authority ( a fear of leaving potential vulnerabilities of external agitators then coming in to sowing the seeds of discord and thereby undermine the state itself from within or by emboldening a people to exert their autonomy, hold onto their unique identities or even as simple as a people themselves becoming "self-aware" of their own innate rights without any external influence at all), again, even though your people lived autonomously practising things which you value and gives you meaning but aren't really understood or valued by the dominant ethnicity or at best viewed as superstitious baggage of old times that simply has no place or value in the modern secular world except maybe as some thing exotic having historical value yet still not being in accordance to the goals and objectives of the state. That's a big problem now. The powerful state now determines anything not sanctioned or approved by the state as a threat to national security. Now things even such as the very language or unique dialect you speak is slowly being erased in your own region, as it conflicts with their objective of a unifying language and writing system. But it doesn't just end there. The high paying careers and jobs are virtually off limits to you. Sure, you could go through and pass all the exams and interviews but you're pretty much bottom of the barrel unless of course you've been properly "re-educated" even then you may just not be a "cultural fit" . The sermons, prayers, songs, congregation gatherings that moved you and your family, that were never ever a threat to the state for centuries and were again passed down for centuries, generations to generations, are now considered a threat. Adjacent neighborhood grudge informants regular buddies with the state that perhaps may be of the dominant ethnicity group and likely doesn't like your people (or any other minorities due to the added propaganda propagated by the state itself through its culture industries and other proxies) simply for being different, having a different identity that is not in unison with theirs or one that's not easily cow-towing or bending backwards to be absorbed into theirs which is only detrimental of your own identity, now fabricate stories about your community regularly, they're actually incentivised to do so since in their view they're serving a greater long term goal of the state and also reinforce their loyalty as well as in keeping with the harmony of the state. The more reasons /violations/offenses to report, the more ammunition/excuses the state apparatus has to further encroach and intervene on its behalf to further suppress or "re-educate" your people to be better compliant with the dictates of the state. In keeping with the "re-education," you're now heavily monitored, especially any types of gatherings, including all your associates, friends, and family and constantly surveilled by the state apparatus like you're in a gigantic open air prison system, even the preachers are now picked by the state and cannot freely conduct services as usual like they have for so long. In fact, it no longer feels like a real religious service at all but further extension of surveillance itself. Preachers are now restricted to only certain things such as dancing, bopping or hoping around like you see on the video, even their speeches and sermons are heavily censored as well and the state also cherry-picks what verses preachers are allowed to quote scripture from or rather, "re-educate" their congregation by misinterpretation so that it conforms only to the lofty goals and objectives of the state and it's own dominant belief system (or the lack theirof).

The older studying classes open in the whole year, but the younger studying classes usually open during summer and winter vacations for primary school, high school, and even universities students, of course expect that schools or mosques where people study religion knowledge full-time.
