When a teen makes a video about “mathcore”. Sorry kids but not everything with time signatures that aren’t 4/4 are mathcore. Also daughters are awesome regardless of if you believe allegations from an ex girlfriend. Believe or not kids - girls do lie sometimes especially ex-girlfriends but y’all wouldn’t k ow that bc you’ve never had a girlfriend.

Nobody sounded like Glassjaw until Glassjaw and then a lot of bands started to sound like Glassjaw. They couldn't have come from anywhere but New York.

One of my favorite post hardcore bands right now is kerosene 454 and I love their albums came by to kill me and race and I hear absolutely no on talk about them, but I also like other post hardcore bands like shift, bluetip, fugazi, farside, seaweed, minor threat and squirrel bait.

love seeing a video about Dangers pop up in my feed. been listening to these guys for over a decade now and they've always been my absolute favorite hardcore band, past or present. I kinda see what they do as an almost postmodern take on hardcore, with all of the literary references and elements from outside of hardcore being woven seamlessly into the fabric. Incredibly nice group of guys too; Al helped me figure out how to get thru college the right way and has been a huge positive influence on me far beyond music. I don't have that tattoo for nothing!

Bad, in all seriousness the only time I find it works was with some stuff out of japan. Malikliya, Necronomidol, and Isiliel which all leave out the shrieks, I think of it more as pop music. That's not to say that I don't think shoegaze can mix with extreme metal, Hybernoid-The Last Day Begins? and Katatonia-Brave Murder Day are great albums.

I swear Shudder to Think might be one of the most underrated as far as post hardcore, alternative, art punk, rock, indie, etc. That band is life changing, and most people aren't even aware of how successful they were/are! So glad to see people paying attention to my favorite music, which is 90s post hardcore!

spiderland actually wasnt produced by albini i believe, they disliked the 'overproduced' sound of tweez. i wanna say someone with the name brian produced spiderland?? idk I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm 99% sure it wasn't produced by albini. great video!! i will always love 90s post-hardcore so much

blackgaze is a subgenre of post-black metal the way i perceive it. post-black metal is a movement of bands that seek to break the bounds of black metal by contradicting some of its core tenets, doing this via brighter soundscapes, themes with more positive-leaning aspirations, and introducing a sense of warmth to the coldness of traditional black metal. blackgaze basically does all of this but it's a subset of what im talking about here. some non-blackgaze bands that I'd call post-black metal include Agalloch, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Kaatayra. keep in mind that none of this is really that restrictive, there will always be many bands that like to subvert whatever rules you try to apply. hopefully this gives you a better idea of what we generally mean with these terms though. also note that some people use post-black metal and blackgaze interchangeably and since these are fresh ideas they're still up for debate

UK post hardcore still pretty unknown now, Bob Tilton were amazing, I saw a band with members of Baby Harp Seal and Bilge Pump once, can't remember what they were called now, they had a trumpet player. Spy Verses Spy were good too, and not really post hardcore but Annalise were great.
