The underground scenes of the 90’s was a continuation of the underground scenes in the 80’s. You did a great job looking at the bands and their impact. Keep up the good work

I swear Shudder to Think might be one of the most underrated as far as post hardcore, alternative, art punk, rock, indie, etc. That band is life changing, and most people aren't even aware of how successful they were/are! So glad to see people paying attention to my favorite music, which is 90s post hardcore!

The underrated era of post - hardcore that gets so overlooked. I’ve been getting into it lately and, I have to say, it’s way better and more innovative than the 2000s, Hot Topic era of post hardcore. People seem to forget about the ‘90s (and the 2000 - 2002 stuff), but go straight to the stuff that came right after both eras.

One of my favorite post hardcore bands right now is kerosene 454 and I love their albums came by to kill me and race and I hear absolutely no on talk about them, but I also like other post hardcore bands like shift, bluetip, fugazi, farside, seaweed, minor threat and squirrel bait.

lest not forget Mogwai started in 1995, one of the most well known and prolific "Post-Rock" bands of all time 👍

I never thought of Post-core as a genre... it is in many ways an era. Grunge, Emo/Screamo, Jazzcore, Mathrock/Mathcore, Crossover, Electro/Industrial-core... all things born frommthe postcore Era. Even Metallic Hardcore/Metalcore.

The origin of the sound in Rollins Band is in Black Flag. Although the most popular part of black flag is as hardcore punk rock pioneers, their sound in their second batch of albums is slower and heavier, usually not mentioned. They count as pioneers of post hardcore and even grunge as well.

spiderland actually wasnt produced by albini i believe, they disliked the 'overproduced' sound of tweez. i wanna say someone with the name brian produced spiderland?? idk I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm 99% sure it wasn't produced by albini. great video!! i will always love 90s post-hardcore so much

Let's not Forget UK Bands Bob Tilton, Understand, Joeyfat, Baby Harp Seal, Fabric and Jetpack were Emo Influenced Post Hardcore bands, Understand were the Only band that got signed to a major, while bands like Ligament were Noise-Rock influenced, Elevate were a early math rock influened and Cable were a band that influenced by Post Hardcore bands like Fugazi, Jawbox, The Jesus Lizard as well indie rock bands like sonic youth and pavement who were signed to a indie label infectionus record the home Ash & Garbage, also idlewild (early) who got signed to Food Records the home of Blur, Post Hardcore In The UK was Unknown at time and this also was during the britpop or britrock era.

UK post hardcore still pretty unknown now, Bob Tilton were amazing, I saw a band with members of Baby Harp Seal and Bilge Pump once, can't remember what they were called now, they had a trumpet player. Spy Verses Spy were good too, and not really post hardcore but Annalise were great.

Usually the end of that era of emo is mentioned as 2002 with the release of Bleed American by Jimmy Eat World. They were 90s emo band although they became more an alt rock band with that album; it made emo and alt rock mainstream again, but in reality not like it used to, and the second era of emo started, or as many people know it today "the emo era". I think Fugazi never really broken up. McKaye says it was just a natural hiatus and they made no plans in either sense. The popularization of the second era of emo detached from its origins (until recent years that those were vindicated by youtubers and new bands) came along with another term confusion that stills runs to this day, that is referring to metalcore as simply hardcore. Back in the 90s, we referred to Madball as NY metalcore, Morning Again as metalcore or "slayercore", Earth Crisis and the likes as new school hardcore. There was even a joke term "machocore" for some bands. But later many people started to say just hardcore to refer to new bands that took the turn on those sounds in the 2000s.

I hate when i talk to people about post- hardcore and they instantly start thinking I like cringey 2000s pop-punk emo shit. I love noise rock and post- hardcore, these are my favorite genres ever. Edit: My favorite bands from that era are probably Shellac, Unwound and Far. Rap3man also deserves a mention, because it was Albini's transition from Big Black to Shellac with less math rock influences. Check out Budd, it is a really good track.
