Thank you very much. I was scared that it could be very difficult for me to understand this, mostly because English is my fourth language.

I think person centred is all about the challenge. Clients come to us because they can’t find the answers on Google and their friends won’t challenge them like we will. It’s about pacing, about empathy vs advanced empathy. Well done chaps, great series of videos.

This has been the best episode yet! Am loving listening to these during my free time. This session has particularly got me questioning my own views on empathy and I'm so grateful for this insight.

Thank you for this talk. The first part of having a criminal record speaks directly to me. Unfortunately I have reached out to many people and bodies with no one willing to speak with me about this. I am really excited about retraining and have a past from around 15 years back. Local colleges haven't provided any help in this area which is a shame.

Thank you so much for this awareness podcast for Autism. Like you Rory, I have been lead on the psychotherapist path because my children who were late diagnosis of Autism were not getting the support they needed. Particular agencies were not very supportive. I done the work myself. My plan is to make my practice neuro friendly. Before seeing this podcast it was always my plan to make therapy adaptable and available for neurodivergent clients. Being a parent to 2 diagnosed and one currently being assessed. Two brothers ASD/ADHD. It has been ingrained in my awareness and environment. What I would say to anyone wanting to make their practice Neurodivergent friendly. Do a sensory course. Learn about sensory processing. I can recommend a couple of books if anyone would like to have a look. There are some amazing organisations out there who will be able to help too. Thank you for all the work you do. You guys have been great for my journey.

wow. I've just heard Ken talk about how as a child he used to be able to confidently speak out loud. This was me also. I enjoyed it. This is the first time I've considered this as part of my Autism. Unfortunately for me growing up in a Catholic community and education; speaking out with a strong confident voice was really only permitted when requested. Thats another story.

Newly diagnosed aged 54. Counsellor in training currently also. A lot to take in. It really chimed with me what Rory said about life experiences of feeling let down by people. In my own family of origin I have certainly experienced increasing feelings of being let down or being very different to them, really seeing things very differently. I think this is perhaps one of the reasons why we choose our own company often because it is basically easier.

Newly diagnosed aged 54. Also Counsellor in training. Its been challenging. It brings up all sorts of emotions, reflections and memories. Does it mean that I could have more understanding for clients with Autism? Who knows.

Hey guys! I have been searching for a podcast like this for some time, and I am truly pleased to have discovered you! As a new counsellor in Australia, I truly appreciate the valuable insights you have shared. I am currently on episode 3 and finding it incredibly enriching. It is wonderful to see the thoughtfulness and engagement in how you deliver the podcast. It would be helpful if the episodes could be organised in a playlist format, starting with the first episode at the top. This way, I would not have to scroll all the way to the bottom after finishing an episode, and I could easily begin from the beginning and progress to the newer ones. Thanks again for this great space!

It's really interesting this was talked about as I'm in Week 6 of my Msc (1st year) and the example at 10 minutes on emotional depth has already came up for me in a skills practice! I asked a question when my 'client' was experiencing a deep emotion and as soon as I asked it I saw them switch into thinking mode. I have a question about questioning please 😁 In the example of taking someone out of their depth of emotion by asking an inappropriate question, what would be an appropriate question?
