Once Windows 10 is about dead like Windows 7, I'm going back to Linux Mint. I used it for about a year some years ago and it was quite nice! My main barrier of entry is art programs and hardware which can already be quite finnicky even on Windows. PaintTool SAI doesn't work without a virtual machine. Krita and Painstorm Studio work especially well on Linux but I'm not as familiar with them. Blender is perfect. Hardware is my true fear, especially since I like niche of the niche tech...

I wonder why you are saying the MK4 is slow. It can easily print as fast as any of the other fast printers and with superior print quality :)
@TechDregs22 сағат бұрын
I'm wondering too. Where did I say that the MK4 was slow?
@Foodgeek21 сағат бұрын
@ I am not going to watch the whole video again, but you said it was slower than the competiton 😊
@TechDregs19 сағат бұрын
No worries, I will tell you: @1:20. I never said the MK4 is slow. I said corexy designs were typically much faster. They are. Prusa themselves advertises the CORE One as being 15-20% faster than the MK4S. So I guess Prusa themselves called the MK4S slow.

Proton is just a wine wrapper so valve can enforce its drm. I don;t use proton and can run any game i want. Stop giving proton credit for what the wine developers have been doing way way before valve came to linux. I was playing dark souls 1 before valve decided to join linux and like i said you DO NOT need proton to run games. It relies on WINE for everything.

The important differences among enameled cast iron, in no particular order: 1) Country of Origin. Matters to some, not others. It DOES have SOME correlation to quality. 2) Interior color. - Some folks really prefer light, others don't care. 3) Drip nipples on the lid. - Methinks good, I don't understand why Lodge didn't use them here. 4) Handles - Is there enough room INSIDE the handles to make it easy to handle? 5) Weight - This correlates directly to thickness of the cast iron, which impacts both durability and cooking performance. Thicker means slower to heat up and slower to cool down, i.e. more thermal stability. High thermal stability is generally considered good for cast iron cookware. Low thermal stability isn't bad, just not really what cast iron cookware is usually designed for. 6) Quality of the enamel. Hardness, i.e. resistance to scratching, and toughness, i.e. resistance to chipping. 7) Size of the bottom relative to the diameter. Generally, the more cooking surface the better, but... Maximizing the bottom diameter means that the transition curve between the bottom and the sides is a tighter radius, which means it can be more difficult to clean. The slope of the sides plays into this as well.

Build volume is the least of my concerns, as long as it is not smaller than my Ender 3. Which it isn't. Most people will be more than satisfied with the build volume of the Core One. I don't own a Prusa printer, but I want one at some point. I am looking forward to the first reviews of this printer. I like that it is made in the EU and that their customer service is getting good reviews. This means more to me, than a cool looking, made in China, printer with average to bad customer service, but cheap. I need a work horse. Each to his own, most people will look at the price and the esthetics. Let's not kid ourselves. I hope the best for Prusa.

Man, it saddens me. I got my Prusa years ago and it's basically part of the family. I would love to upgrade but I'd first have to get the MK3s to MK4s conversion kit to then right after that get the MK4s to Core One kit which totals in 1030€ all together. That's a whole new printer just to... Achieve what? Guess I'll keep printing on my Hemera Prusa, I really can't justify spending this amount of money for just upgrades.

Just like people buy the iPhone, Prusa fanboys will this product as well. It´s finally time they turn their shitty old i3 design into new modern and better, even though it´s too expensive for what it is. The problem they solved once (easy printing without too much fumbling) is gone today. Nobody wants to build a huge project like that piece by piece or at least very little people the problem of projects like that are gone too. They could have pulled far far ahead by using a 3 point tilting print bed, making basically 5 axis printing possible. THIS would have been HUGE since no other manufacturer uses it or has the slicer for it and it would eliminate supports with all the associated problems and it would also zero the print bed. It´s a shame they didn´t see that innovation, they are now basically on par with everyone else.

You can’t compare the k2 with a prusa. Creality sucks. It’s like a KIA, you can get a KIA with lots of cool features like heated and cooled seats with a nice interior for cheaper than a Japanese car. The issue is the KIA is junk and will fall apart on you. The Japanese car won’t.
@generalsirc26152 күн бұрын
Prusa is the only printer brand I recommend to people. They make quality printers and if you get a bad printer they will make things right quickly. And you can always talk to an expert at prusa.
@generalsirc26152 күн бұрын
This new core one is a huge deal. It’s exactly what I wanted them to make! The K1 is a junk printer. The prusa is easily repairable, they have excellent customer support, and you know there will be upgrades in the future to keep your printer up to date.

What i see, is that Prusa wanted to do two things, #1 NOT delete old users and fans, by allowing IN THIS MODEL ONLY the ability to upgrade from the 4S. Migrate as much of them as possible. After this its all new world. #2 Start a all new product line that adresses most of the competition and includes all the knowledge they gathered by what i thnk is a failed product, the XL. Also i think that sooner rather than later the XL will be discontinued. But first id expect they will make, its all in the name "CORE One", a second CORE machine for the company ... the CORE Two. A same strategy machine based on the XL plate. A 360x360x420+ machine.

I like a competitive market as that ultimately benefits, me, the end consumer. I think the Prusa One is 2 years late to the market and very underwhelming in terms of features as an enclosed coreXY (no active chamber heater? already puts it beneath a Q1 Pro in terms of printers I would buy), I do think the kit pricing is competitive though and I like the upgradeability of it, which makes it competitive with the P1S/X1C to me (another enclosed coreXY without active heating). It needs a fully featured AMS competitor to appeal to the broader consumer market IMO.
@The_Privateer3 күн бұрын
The core one doesn't seem to offer anything more than Bambu. Kind of a let down tbh. This is their dying gasp of trying to remain relevant. Nothing about the Prusa XL is anything that an 'industrial' or print farm needs.

i have never maxed out my mk3 build volume. And also on the topic of buyable add ons, prusa is made in EU! For the base printer to be able compete with chinese printers prices is huge on my opinion.

There is a handheld attachment they offer with a open style coil that I would love to hear your thoughts on! Great video 👏
@TechDregs3 күн бұрын
Judging by the photos, it looks like it would probably just be two Litz wire leads and another wire pair for the remote button. They also have terminals to accept their coils. I'm not sure what terminals they use... I need to look into them. They are decent. A person could probably DIY one, but essentially it's just an extension cord for the unit made of special wire so it doesn't have too much inductance.

I used to run Slackware, but that's because it was the most widely available distro at the time (1997 or 98). I ran it for 2 or 3 years until the original RedHat distro came out, and it sucked so I used Slack for another year or so.

Just a piece of trivia... the Debian distro got its name when the project founder combined his and his wife's first names. Deb + Ian (Murdock). He apparently meant it as a nice way to say that she was important to him... she didn't /hate/ it. I guess that's good.

On the build volume - it is absolutely dependent on what you print. If you need it - you needed, and if you don't - you don't. Personally the only time I needed to to print something large ( a mirror frame) it was 380x300 so that is no go for even larger printers. As for the camera - I am interested If I will be able to use one from an old laptop . It says usb, so hoping it is not proprietary.

I don't understand what is all drama about. Comapare prints from Prussa and from Bambu. Prusa producing better quality prints. It's also built from more durable components. That explains price.
@TheNewBloodDan4 күн бұрын
I do think Prusa are changing for the better when it comes to pricing their products to be more competitive in addition to having an official American distributer/ RMA service team. But I do agree with the points you make. One thing is certain though, the Prusa fanbase compared to before are being spoiled right now and it brings the core xy tech to more people, even if the price to performance isn’t quite there yet. This is why having companies like creality and Bambu ( despite some of their questionable practices) pushing Prusa to try to do better is making the consumers winners at the end of the day. Currently rocking a K1 SE and it’s the best purchase I’ve made this year despite its flaws.

@Lysy3D4 күн бұрын
I think this might be still a good printer to choose. Not everyone needs to print fast, they want the print to be done and have the quality they need. Some people don't want to modify it, so half-open source will not bother them, however, ability to fix the printer yourself is way better option than overpaying for spare parts. It cracks me up a bit seeing people using mostly 5-15% of the print volume the printer is actually capable of, so the size isn't a deal breaker too. I think it's a perfect choice to people who just want to print, can fix it on their own, and if they really want to, upgrade it in the future and still have reliable device.
