This was actually one of my favorites and I only got the fat glob a few times, but it definitely got the whole bottle of tabasco added. And because it came with the cherry nut cake, for me the best dessert next to the dried fruit. It was also an entree that you could eat on the walk or while bouncing around in a vehicle buy just squeezing it out the corner of the pouch.

I'm prtty sure the dates are Julian dates. The first digit is the last digit of the year, and the last 3 are the number of the day. Based on your estated date range, the 2 would be 1992, and the 267th day is September 23rd in a leap year. Of, course i could be completely wrong too, so.....

Excellent content. Bravo! My "beef stew" story. My New York Navy buddy visited in the Summer back in 1989 before my daughter was born. He gifted me with some of the venison from the deer he took down during season. I stuck it in the freezer and forgot about it. Daughter born and months pass. My in-laws were getting on my nerves. Wife obligated me to have them over for supper. Background: My mother in law was as "don't kill Bambi", meat comes in packages sort of person. I thawed out the venison and made "beef" stew with it. The compliments that I received that night were incredible. I never told my in-laws that they had partaken of Bambi that night. Ahhhh, the memories.

You know rations have been in a dire state for a while when each previous version is remembered more fondly than what it was replaced with. The Five Fingers of Death? There has never been an MRE component as good or useful as "shelf stable beef franks with smoke flavor added" since they got pulled. They're nicknamed because they're great, not because they're as bad as "wheat snack bread", for example. That has no nicknames that I've ever heard, as the only use for it that I've found was to crumble it up to make a circle of protection against fire ants. It works very well for that, actually, and it saves me from sacrificing precious MRE crackers. They even found ways to make the crackers worse. The originals like you have in the video taste substantial and filling. You can not get crackers like them anywhere that I've found. I would really like a supply of them for a more cracker-based diet fad I'm just now envisioning.

That's because you don't go to a restaurant for the best beef stew. You go to Mom's or Grandma's house.

As a quartermaster have questions about the MRE that I'm looking at. Number one I would like to process this by saying that I love the beef stew that's in the MRE. The first question I have is how old is the MRE that you guys bought. Because all MREs that I know of are tan. The last time I saw a mre that looked that dark in color from 1998 to early 2000. Because they changed after 9/11 to almost exclusively tan or white if you got the MREs that were made for Arctic campaigns. Those are freeze dried. And they come in a white package that's vacuum sealed.
