Excerpt from the Workshop Manual 1.0 EB: Additionally, part of the coolant flows from the engine block through the electric coolant pump, then through the exhaust turbocharger to the expansion tank, and back to the coolant pump. The electric coolant pump is only activated when the coolant temperature exceeds a critical level. This typically occurs when the engine has been running under high load for a long time and is then shut off immediately-for example, after a long highway drive at high speed followed by stopping at a rest area. After turning off the engine, excessive residual heat can accumulate around the engine. To prevent damage from this residual heat, the electric coolant pump is activated by the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). As a result, the electric coolant pump may continue running for a certain amount of time after the engine is turned off. "Does it work this way or not? I am scared because I drove 20 km without coolant. Do you think it could be damaged?

Hey i know I'm a few years late but what would happen if i just put something in the way so the exhaust fumes cant come out? would it basically be the exact same as taking it out or not?
@CarsandEngineering2 ай бұрын
You mean just blanking off the hole in the cylinder head? Without removing the pump etc? You can do that it’s not an issue but you’d still have an engine light on either way. It’s a lot cleaner just to remove the lot and then blank the hole in the cylinder head 👍🏻

About a year ago you attached that boost gauge to your fuel pressure hose. Is it still working? Any problems? Planning on installing one in my gti, but i watched a vid where the author said that it's risky. I'm concerned.
@CarsandEngineering3 ай бұрын
It’s working no problems been on several Track days and no issues at all. It is safer to do it from the intake manifold but either way if the pipe comes off it’s an air leak which isn’t great it’s the risk you take installing it either way 👍🏻 In other words send it

@CarsandEngineering3 ай бұрын
Just normal tap water 👍🏻
@smeshfactory39923 ай бұрын
@@CarsandEngineering I've heard tap water to flush it out is bad as it coats the inside with unwanted minerals etc?
@CarsandEngineering3 ай бұрын
If you regularly change your coolant and don’t leave it for years on end it won’t be a problem. Coolant has chemicals in it to make standard water ok to use. You can buy distilled water to use in the cooling system it’s entirely up to you 👍🏻
@smeshfactory39923 ай бұрын
@@CarsandEngineering I'm going to try and change my coolant today but flush out the system 2 or 3 times using the same product as you for the first flush. Pretty sure garage I took my car to the other day put a different spec coolant in to what my cars says hence why doing this. I just hope locating the coolant plug on my car is as easy as it was on yours. I've brought some water from Spotless Water as I believe it's distilled, couldn't find 'distilled' water in the UK on google.

What car do you have ? Most vw’s have a drain on the bottom but if not remove the lowest hose you can get to. Just make sure when refilling you let it get to temp and the fans come on to avoid an air lock

Nice job man. I had to tear off the entire front end of my passat after the accessory belts shredded and threw off the timing belt by a few notches. But now that it's apart, I see that big silly air pump just easily accessible to remove. Now after this vid I know how to plug it up properly!

I think the passat engine bays are packaged a bit tighter than the polo but it is possible witout taking the front off depending on engine fitted to the vehicle

Great video thanks! It mite be worth while having a little voltimeter gauge wired into stereo loom. So you can monitor constant voltage behaviour. Ive got 1 due to a plug under steering fluid resivour breaking and causing a drain on my battery idling after a while but recharged over 1500rpm. Its like a alternator signal wire/plug. Ive got a ibiza 6l tdi my main reasons for doing the battery relocation is for quick access to steering resiovour, fan temp sensor that ive got swtich wired too and of course to show off painted 02m 4h shiftr braided lines. Hoses and ally rad. Mate whats with the foil on box mount? I give 250 for all 3 vibra technics
@CarsandEngineering4 ай бұрын
firstly thank you ive got a digital dash fitted which gives me voltage via OBD so that a good indicator. The foil on the box mount is to keep the polyurethane in the mount as these are custom made mounts there is a video on the channel showing how i did it

You wont be able to use resistors to get rid of the seconday air intake code im afraid. This code can only be disabled by programming it out of the ECU by a Tuner or specialist

Thank you for this beautiful video... but I admit that I have been looking for months... I removed the N249 and I put 2 x 330ohm/10w resistor under the intake manifold and connected the DValve hose under the manifold and I want to remove the N112 and on the secondary air pump power socket I must also put a resistor or not? because then I would find myself with 3 resistors in total and all the removal kits only have 2 x resistors in total... I am lost... I put a 330/10 resistor to try on the pump and I failed P0411and P1297...thank you very much
@CarsandEngineering4 ай бұрын
You have to get the secondary air pump mapped out by a tuner its not able to be removed via a resistor
