I think a lot of people also don't know or forget that the over usage of OOP can easily cause a lot of memory leaks, especially when it's written by someone who is new to OOP or doesn't necessarily understand it all that well. Very important to be familiar with the tools you use, and also to understand that wile OOP can be an amazing way to program, there are definitely limits.

Getting lazy and a lack of proper planning / organization was my past self's number one enemy. If you're going to make something, first have an idea of what the code will look like and how different scrips will interact with it. Then you should make something of a test which is like the skeleton of your idea, make sure it works then expand upon that. You should also regularly look at your code and try your best to spot future errors or potential oversights.

Didn't expect this video to explain the entire reason to use OOP and the concept of it. You just convinced me to learn it, as you said its just to create a certain object and have a posibility to make functions onto that certain object, thanks a lot

2:55 That's not abstraction, that is inheritance. Abstraction is the act of boiling down a concept to its very essence; to leave out unnecessary or impertinent details and focus on providing the users of a class an interface that exposes only the necessary or relevant details for their use-case. Whenever you create a new class to represent a complex real world concept, you are abstracting. A class is an abstraction of a real object.
@LeehamsonTheThird12 күн бұрын
In the video I discussed my plans to make forms of skills that are dumbed down to their basics, aka AttackSkill, RangeSkill, etc. I also mentioned there being a BaseSkill. These are abstractions as they would never actually be instanced. However, inheritance is a much broader scope and probably would much better describe what I was talking about when I defined abstraction in the video.

man, I'm creating a fighting game on Roblox, and how difficult it is, the part that I have the most difficulty with is the communication between the player and server, even with knit making it a lot easier, I created a workaround that mixes oops classes and knit services, and it seems very confusing, as I created it in separate modules from the services. I hope your game and you can go far to success. because here I need to deal with the mistake of not using knit's services in the best way, just by you sharing a little about how you use the services (even if it's not in a way focused on that) I already had a great idea for my project, thank you very much.

I understand what network ownership is, but I don't understand why "plr" would be false, does this mean the player has left the server? Sorry if this is a dumb question but when will plr be false?
