No. This engine is 3VZ-FE. Not 1MZ-FE. From Osaka Japan.

AMAZING V8 reliability! I’m on my (2nd) Timing Belt with 200K on my 2UZ-FE on my 2005 Sequoia with AISIN KIT, which is the most reliable! DO NOT use other brands or they will break at only 80K when AISIN will go past 100K. I’m at 205,000 w/ oil changes every 5K with Full Synthetic Mobil 1 oil 5W-30. Only (8) more AISIN timing belts to go for One Million proven miles on 2UZ-FE.

What’s the correct interval to change the oil if you’re not putting on miles. If I change the oil every 6 months, I’ve barely put on 1 or 1 & 1/2 thousand miles!

I have to do valve cover gaskets on the 2004 (last gen) version of this engine. There is a coolant leak on the driver side. Hopefully only the thermostat.

My daughters hood cable was disconnected at the release lever …I got it on with needle nose pliers and got the hood open but now it will not latch down despite everything I tried…I noticed the top two side 10 mm bolts are not even on ….i might as well replace the whole assembly and find two bolts

I have a 2022 Tacoma SR, base model, utility package. I threw a simple lift and some wheels/tires on it, added tint, and it's the best truck I ever owned. It's so basic, simple, (yes, it's SLOW), but reliable and simple. I love my little Taco! Bought it slightly used with 13k miles, it's now got 19k miles after a year of ownership. Hope it lasts me forever.

I'm currently working on my 2003 tundra. I appreciate your video on the 4 runner.. it really confirms my understanding of engaging and dis engaging the front cv shafts. I'm trying to time the actuator and currently not successful. I may be able to figure it out from what you have shown me. Do you have a diagram of the front actuator on a 1st gen tundra..

My Toyotas only run about 7-8K miles per year. I follow AMD’s advice (The Car Care Nut) and perform oil & filter changes every 6 months with full synthetic oil and OEM filter. Inspecting down the oil fill cap with a light shows absolutely no sludge build up. Both are 5.7L 3URFE engines. Oil is cheap.

Thank-you so much! If you apply anti-seize on the axle threads before installing the axle nut remember to reduce your torque values. I have seen ~30% reduction suggestions when using anti-seize.

Very commonly I've bought motorcycles with see-through glass engine oil level ports that were completely opaque. At first I just figured that was from age. But very quickly I learned that, after changing the oil, that glass would become completely clear within just a couple thousand miles. Two lessons from this. First, neglected maintenance is extremely common, as all of us watching this already know. Second, detergents in oil are incredibly effective. What's left behind by old oil will be extremely well cleaned up by fresh oil in less time than you'd think. A couple quick oil changes and, as long as no permanent damage was done, this engine will be clean everywhere that it matters.

The 1GRFE most definitely does have a rock cover gasket leak- super super common on cars in Oz. Especially on the inside bolts side under the intake manifold as the bolts come loose.

#1 cylinder spark plug seal holder in the valve cover looks out of round. Is that why the seal was leaking so badly?
@GoofieNewfie692 күн бұрын
Yea, seen that before. Clean up the cover and anything else you can reach, and change oil after 3000km. tear apart filter to see whats in there. Do it again after another 3000km. Should be good after that

Yeah when I see this kind of maintenance with Toyota. It seems like people use Toyota durability as a license to neglect it's maintenance. Such a shame.

I would like for you to answer a question, if you have time. I don't know the previous maintenance history of my wife's 2005 Sienna, AWD. We have owned her for 12 years and 110,00 miles, so it now has 196,000 on it. I have changed the oil approx. every 4 to 5,000 miles. One time I goofed and hit 6,000. It consumes about 1/2 quart of oil between changes, and at 4 to 5,000 miles the oil still looks pretty gold color. I have never opened the engine, but my trusted mechanic did the timing belts at around 120,000, and never said a word about what my engine looked like inside. Am I safe to assume that it would be clean inside, ot might look bad like yours. I am just curious of your opinion. thank you (3300 engine, VVT)
@craigiefconcert64932 күн бұрын
No way it looks bad like this one. After 12 years of good maintenance any previous neglect will be long gone! Enjoy it another 12 years and then take a look when you replace the valve cover gasket 😂😂😂

We had a 2008 Sienna with the 2GR-FE engine when our kids were young, and man, sometimes i wish we still had it. It was a tank. I did have to replace the steering rack in it, which wasn't a trivial job, but it didn't take away from that vehicle. Would still love to see an update on your Tundra!!!

Every Toyota owner needs to know it only costs an extra $20 per year to make their engines run well practically forever. Unfortunately, there are too many owners that just don't care until the repair bill (and potential tow truck) arrives. Dad taught me that maintenance is MUCH cheaper than repair. This is basic stuff.

May I ask how many miles you have and if you live in the rust belt, how is the frame?
@michaeltellurian8252 күн бұрын
@@02markcal Yeah, that's a problem. I feel the same way about my 2008 Sienna, wanted it to last. But the frame is hopelessly rusted. Took it in last week to get a speed sensor replaced and my guy told me he won't work on it anymore. It's not safe to put up on the lift and will no longer pass state inspection. Otherwise, the vehicle is near perfect.

I feel your pain. I owned a used 97 camry that had 265,000 miles. Ran like a top, but gas lines, brake lines, you name it , was rusted out. It was 21yrs old. Knew it was not going to pass inspection & saved up & got a Prius. I've been getting it undercoated yearly. Im 72. @michaeltellurian825

Oil changes should be done every 5,000 miles or once a year if you don't drive allot, which ever comes first
@Dac542 күн бұрын
Absolutely! My wife's vehicle averages between 1200 and 1500 miles a year, as it's used pretty much only for local shopping, doctor visits, etc. Despite this, it gets an oil change approximately every 11-12 months, depending on our schedules.
